Alone In The Dark: episodic content, combine system details revealed |
Ó
It's no secret that Atari's Alone in the Dark (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, PlayStation 2) has both old and new school gamers excited at the prospect of playing the game. If you've been following this title, you might want to know that Alone in the Dark's producer Todd Slepian and Atari PR specialist Alissa Bell were recently interviewed by Gamasutra. In the interview, quite a few facts about the game were revealed such as episodic content and the combine system.
According to Slepian, the game will be done in a series of episodes. He said that each episode consists of around four to five levels which "could stand on their own." The entire season will be in the full retail copy of the game though it might be interesting to see if Atari also decides to release the game online in a per-episode format.
With regards to the gameplay of Alone in the Dark, Slepian discussed the combine system which seems to be one of the major features of the game. For those who aren't familiar with this, it is a gameplay mechanic which lets players combine different items to not only solve puzzles but create new weapons.
A good example of this would be how players decide to use an aerosol can. While some might decide to combine it with their lighter and just start burning everything in sight, others might use it as a grenade by throwing it at an enemy and then blasting it with a gun. More stealthy gamers might decide to use it as a decoy by sticking it to a wall with tape.
From all indications, Alone in the Dark is turning out to be quite a game. We can't wait to see how the final game actually plays like. Just in case you want to see the interview in full, feel free to follow our Source link below.

I loved the half-life series till it got episodic... I mean, paying a bit less seems cool, but for a LOT less material? not sure. I mean, you have one game per year but you don't know the end... until 2019 or something. Or they add non related story stuff, like a bad follow-up, and you pay this high priced... No, I'm not into episodic! I like it when the game pop with everything. If they need one more year, okay, I'll play something else waiting, but when it pops, I want it fully!
