Guitar Hero - Image 1It sure is busy out in Activision's front lawn as the company prepares to unleash yet another of their face-melting Guitar Hero title, Guitar Hero III for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox 360.

So today, we're here to give you some rockin' details on Guitar Hero III, and we're sure this will get you pumped up as your guitar will be modeled after Gibson Guitar's Les Paul and Kramer models. As for gameplay, there are newly added features and a brand new multiplayer action-inspired battled mode, boss battles that will definitely get your hands sweaty and a whole pack of unlockable content and funky, authentic rock venues to stage your big show.

What's in the playlist? Activision definitely made sure this one's going to be a chart-topper, with a cool list of "face-melting awesomeness". Here's but a preview of what you'll get to play:
  • Paint it Black (The Rolling Stones)
  • Cherub Rock (Smashing Pumpkins)
  • Sabotage (Beastie Boys)
  • The Metal (Tenacious D)
  • My Name is Jonas (Weesser)
  • Knights of Cydonia (Muse)
  • Rock and Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss)
  • School's Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
  • Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat)
  • Cult of Personality (Living Colour)
  • Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)
Whew, that's definitely some list, huh? Anyhow, Guitar Hero III has no release date yet, nor has it been rated by the ESRB. But not to worry, we'll keep you posted on that.

» Some list...

I hope its just some list, if its the whole list there is no way I'm going to be picking it up.

» gah!

i wish they would release some type of software that you plug in the notes and it makes a song from that list for GH. I dont know about real guitar but i would imagine the program would just attempt to break down guitar into the 15-20 playable notes on GH's guitar

» Mabie A.

Theyre gonna need better songs than that to get me to grab a copy. Also @ Mabie, you misspelled Weezer ;)

» Left Off...

How come you guys have left off the othet two confirmed bands? Queens of the Stone Age and Velvet Revolver will be appearing in the game too.

by stefen - 2007-05-23 14:24
» what?!

Weezer's Blue album is one of the best albums out there especially considering it was released in the early 90's when no one else even came close to sounding like them. My Name is Jonas is my favorite song on this list and I'm stoked.

by Reever - 2007-05-23 14:33
» why?

Why isn't there any stuff like Ozzy or Scorpions? Who wouldn't wanna play Crazy Train or Rock you Like a Hurricane on guitar hero? They need to get some GOOD songs

by soundgarden - 2007-05-23 15:10
» cult of personality

by Shatterdome - 2007-05-23 16:55

Damn kids not knowing the good songs of the past

Too bad there is no rage so far....i'd like to get 2 for rage and a few others....but not sure if I should with 3 so close...

by jayhawker09 - 2007-05-23 17:06
» dude

Weezer is one of the best alternative bands ever, but its understandable if thats not your genre, but dude...KISS???? how can you not love kiss???

by qw - 2007-05-23 19:35
» Good start

Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat)

Cult of Personality (Living Colour)

Paint it Black (The Rolling Stones)

Good start so far, maybe I'll buy it if it keeps up. I didn't buy GHII simply because there was a total of about three songs I like.

» Calm down everybody

The article says its an INITIAL tracklist. if the first game had over 30 songs, and the second game had even more than that they would release a game with only 11 tracks? They obviously can't reveal all the songs at the same time, because they may not have acquired the licenses yet, and they will probably want to build up some hype. Give it time. They'll release other songs.

by valor19 - 2007-05-23 21:14
» weezer

Learn how to spell "Weezer" there, buddy.

by Slicksim - 2007-05-23 21:37

» THat is just the companys chosen titles, the HUGE list is going to be voted on over the net

No this is just the companys chosen songs that they are going to put in the rest are going to be voted on by the public and its going to be a huge list.

They may well release an editor over xbox live that allows you to put in your own music if guitar hero 3 is the last one they are going to release.

by er - 2007-05-24 00:18
» as made famous by YES THEY ARE THE REAL ARTISTS

RE as made famous by -

They are the original artists, it always says as made famous by on all the songs in guitar hero at the start of each song you play

by uioui - 2007-05-24 00:22
» PS3 music will be 60 years out of date

The big list of songs are going to be voted for over the net.

Expect to see any of the modern chart releases that they include to be 30 years old the time the PS3 version is released..

by Qixsands - 2007-05-24 03:55
» 360 version is outselling PS2 version in USA

What is amazing is that the 360 version is now weekly outselling the PS2 version I never thought that would happen being that its such a hit on PS2 but it has now..

» Can't keep on going without AC/DC or Zepplin

I really like the new playlist so far, But you gotta have some Angus Young, (soal stripper, prefferably) and Jimmy Paige. That's like making a reggae game and leaving out Bob Marley.

It would also be nice to have an "Oyster Head" song, cause for two player Co-op you have Trey (lead) and Claypool (Bass).

what about some Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen. Prolly too fast for Guitar hero though, (kinda like Bucketheads "Jordan") nobody would get 5 stars, Santana would be nice to play, Beck, Sublime, White stripes, leo Kottke. Maybe throw a flamenco song in there by Paco DeLucia, or Rodrigo y gabriela to mix it up.

But Please Please PLEASE get some AC/DC. This is the greatest Rythem/Lead combo ever, and They Friggin ROCK!

Sorry for going on and on, I prolly would never leave the house if I wrote the playlist. He He... But both versions of Guitar hero are awesome so keep up the good work.

by butterfli4201 - 2007-05-26 07:44
» great list

hotel california by the eagles an anything by sublime should be on there.

» BILLY TALENT - Fallen leaves

We need AC/DC on here..... and a fun one would be Billy talent's "Fallen leaves" But thanks for Tool and Rolling stones.... But you NEED AC/DC...

by moady - 2007-06-01 16:38
» sublime

i agree, get some sublime on there

by ledfan - 2007-06-01 17:54
» the good tracks

The only good ones I see is paint it, black, barracuda, and slow ride. You need to put a good led zeppelin song on there, maybe heartbreaker, sick again, or achilles last stand. I don't think I would put stairway to heaven on there.

by Omg - 2007-06-08 11:20
» ASMADEFAMOUSBY

Dude. As made famous by, means, its covered, note, on a few songs, it will say, By *Insert name of the band* Those are the master tracks, performed by the band themselves. As made famous by, means its a cover.
