A ten-minute look into the gameplay of Monster Hunter 3

From the highways and biways of YouTube comes a ten-minute footage for the latest MH title, Monster Hunter 3. This vid takes us right from the top menu, character selection, then straight into action, with loading screens in between. Check it out.

Jugding from what we saw in the vid, there's gonna be a good selection of hunters, and the player picked the guy with a sword that looks like it's a cross between Cloud's Buster Sword and a giant comb. Appropriately enough, the guy downed his first target with one devastating swing.

The vid shows quite a lot of loading time - each segment of the map requires you to load. Even if it's just for a little while, it could get annoying as you go on. That's not gonna stop hardcore Monster Hunter fans though. Besides, Capcom's still working on it so they still might get the loading time down.

» Want to know....

The REAL reason why they ended up not making it for PS3? They are going to be charging a monthly fee for online play. Sony would not allow that, so they found someone who would. It didn't hurt that they could almost direct port the entire game and features off of other games, since the wii hardware isn't THAT much different from the PS2. The only thing that looks new is the underwater levels, and those are unoriginal *think FFX* and don't look that fun.

I wonder though, if the choice of hunter was only because it's a demo maybe? It would be odd if you chose from a selection of hunters and not customizing your own. Kind of defeats the purpose of the game?

And whatever pt, underwater huntering is neat, it's just unfortunate it's on the wii.
