Wii

According to German website Gamefront, Nintendo have predicted that they will sell an estimated 6 million Wii consoles and 17 million Wii games by March 2007.  This prediction comes just as Nintendo announce sales figures for the ever-popular handheld DS console with sales breaching the 21 million mark, one DS console selling every second. Nintendo have been sneaky in announcing this, as we do not yet know when the Wii will be released, meaning we cannot compare this to how well Sony predicts their PS3 to do or Microsoft's Xbox 360 predictions.

This rather small announcement is dwarfed by DS sales reaching 21 million in 2 years, but if you think about it, 6 million in a period of time that can be estimated at a maximum of 8 months or so between the Wii launch and the March sales target is still quite a large prediction. If we take an educated guess at say 6 months, this would mean that Nintendo would sell almost as many Wii as it has DS' in 2 years, even taking into account the depreciation of sales. However many Wii sales there are between its launch and March, you'd bet it'll be more than the Gamecube. After all, with that controller and tiny size - who wouldn't buy one?

Number 1 means nothing. Chart musics 90% rubbish but sells millions. Nintendo have pretty much always been the best (ok, N64 was pretty crap) - it dosnt matter if they are first or not, as long as they keep putting out quality fun titles.... and aslong as they dont go bankrupt :P

id expect more...

i thought there would be more than that by spring07 since technically it is a bit easier to manufacture than the ps3 and sony expects 6 million by spring07...yea right i think sony will have like 3-5 million by spring 07

I surely won't buy one

I have to save my money for the ps3 lol and anyway, my sisters really like the concept of the wii but personally I like RPG and action/adventure, not really mario this and mario that, also I'm not impressed with the controller, it cannot play normal games at all! and I don't want to stupidly mave my hands around to select options, maybe it's cool at start, but after a week you are surely really tired of moving around the select screen with your hand... anyway this is for child and non-gamers alike, but I'm not a casual gamer, I'm a hard-core fan, I played almost all japanese RPG ( from nes ) and I am waiting for final fantasy 12 ( and 13 next year on ps3 ), I also want games like: metal gears solid 4, devil may cry 4, resident evil 5, GTA4, gran turismo 5 and a LOT of games like that. So the wii's not for me with games like: sports casual games, another mario, ( zelda looks good but I'll play on gamecube ), another matroid... the only games I'd buy are dragon quest ( but I fear this could become an hack&slash stupid action game ) red steel looks good too, and the resident evil special game made for the wii, that's all... I'll buy the console after a year for a small price like my gamecube I suppose, anyway the gamecube have a lot less games than what we'll see on the wii! But for now I have to save my money for the ps3... not cheap at all, only ~200$ saved for now.... I'll buy it early 2k7 ( I wait for the good games, and wait to see the problems of the launch systems ) PS: I'll buy a wii at launch ONLY if dragon quest if a real RPG looking even BETTER than dragon quest 8 ( and I really liked it, played 70 hours on it lol )

@ Senjutsu

Dude it can play normal games, they don't have to use ythe motion tracking. SSBB isn't using tracking, it's juts using the buttons and analog sticks because it would be a bit awkward to make good controls for a game like that. Nintendo will probably have most good RPGs and action/adventure anyway, PS3 is losing all of it's franchises and Microsoft and Nintendo are gaining them. And why does eveyrone insist on saying it's for children. Red steel looks like a right kiddies game doesn't it. I mean that's obviously going to be rated 3+. Oh, and there's no such thing as a "real" RPG. It's either an RPG or not, there's no fake types. Try not to be so shallow minded. Anyway it's a pretty good target, they'll probably reach it easily.
