20 years, 50 minutes, one Link: a Zelda Retrospective |
Ó
It doesn't matter. All Zelda fans, whether new or ancient, can now get a full 50-minute crash course into the whole Zelda story with a few insider info of how the games evolved. In light of the first and second parts of GameTrailers' Zelda Retrospective, here's the full deal, including not just the first two parts, but also all the other installments until the 6th.
Whether you were able to keep up with all the Zelda titles (whoa!) or not, you'd be able to peek into the long and short of every game in this vid. You've got all of the titles here, from the Nes to the SNES, the handhelds, to a 3D Hyrule introduced in the Nintendo64, then under a cel-shaded makeover, until finally... The next-gen.
So, grab your popcorn and get comfy. If you still haven't played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess yet, then there's one more reason left why you should keep your hands away from the Wiimote for now. Let's all take some time to let nostalgia kick into our system and, by looking into Link's past, prepare ourselves for his (and your) future.

I have been playing Zelda for about 10 years and I own every iteration of it since SNES. This has to be one of the best and most professionally done retrospectives on Zelda ever. I really enjoyed the end part where it tries to make a time line. How correct it is I am unsure but it seems to make sense to me at least. This should be released in high quality as a DVD and sold for a small fee (to cover production/materials and shipping) or bundled with Twilight Princess (for GC, since Wii one is already out) or Hourglass (DS). If it cannot be bundled maybe EBGames or BB can do like a "if you pre-order the game you get this as a bonus item". Just my opinion.
This was created by gametrailers.com and was in 6 parts. Someone just merged it together and tossed on google video. Someone should credit them.
I have been playing since the very first, golden cartridge Zelda back in '87. I can't believe it's been almost 20 years! http://zeldaslair.blogspot.com

Being a Zelda fan doesn't mean you have to subject yourself to the horrors of the Phillips-cdi creations. In fact, I'd say you were a bigger fan by NOT supporting those abominations.
Man! I had just come to the conclusion that LOZ was more or less a 007 kind of thing, but that timeline really makes sense. I always wondered about what happened when the screen turned grey in OoT(classic moment!).
Have somebody miror? Its not on Google video anymore.
