17 Wii units sold per second at Amazon; strongest holiday season ever reported

Nintendo Wii owners - Image 1Due to Nintendo's popular white hot console, giant online retailer Amazon posted record-breaking holiday season sales. After selling 17 Nintendo Wii units per second whenever it's available, Amazon reported its strongest holiday season ever.

December 10 was the peak of sales when customers ordered around 62.5 items per second, totaling 5.4 million items for the day. Over 3.9 million units were shipped to more than 200 countries that day.

Other top-sellers were movies Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series, Garmin GPS systems, Apple MacBooks, and KitchenAid stand mixers were among the products that helped boost Amazon's unprecedented holiday season.
