New QJ.NET Feature: "Jump it Up!" |

As I'm sure many of you have noticed by now, we have a new addition to the QJ.NET Blogs - the "Jump it Up" box! This allows our readers to "vote" on an article if they enjoy reading it! "But why?" you might ask. The answer is simple! By voting for articles you like, it gives us (and our bloggers) a clear indication of what kind of news our readers (that means YOU!) want to see posted on our blogs. So if you like what you see, just "Jump it up!" But the fun doesn't stop there! In the next few weeks, this feature will be expanded upon giving our members the ability to sort the news depending on how much it's been "jumped," as well as having an impact on where on the page the news is displayed on our "QJ.NET Blog of Blogs" page. This is your chance to determine what you see and what we post!
As an added benefit to our logged in members, they count for TWO votes whereas those of you who aren't logged in only count for one. To register at QJ.NET, simply fill out the New User Registration form, found in the Log In box to the right of the screen.
I hope everyone enjoys this new addition and makes the most of it! If you like the "Jump it Up" feature, the easiest way to tell us is to click "Jump it Up" on this article!
As with any new feature, there are bound to be the various bugs and browser incompatibility issues, so if you are having any sort of trouble be sure to Contact Us about it so we can fix it as soon as possible!
(To ensure that the majority of our readers get the lowdown on the "Jump it Up" feature, this post will stay at the top of the news list for part of the day. Look below for the latest news!)

We wanted to choose an original and clear "phrase" for this feature... hopefully it will become more recognizeable as to what its for. After all, not everyone knew what "Google it" meant at first. :)
That's also why we made this announcement, so people know what its about. Yesterday was just for you guys to kinda play around with it and make sure it was working properly.

And not that its any of your business, but this site currently operates at a severe loss... in the way of tens of thousands of dollars a month. Which is okay temporarily, because we're going places. But please, your ignorance about how much money this site is making off of ads is unwanted.

"...when PSPU posts something not PSP related. Which is all the time."
Again, another case of someone over-exaggerating, being too picky, or someone who just enjoys complaining. As I previously mentioned, point out one article currently on the front page of PSPU that isn't PSP related.
#38 - For a Premium Member who has donated, having ads is a big deal. As we've mentioned many times, we cannot duplicate the problem and have been trying to fix it for weeks now. Doing so requires detailed input from those of you who ARE experiencing ads and shouldn't be.

@ those that don't like this feature. Most people accept now the ideas of democracy. If you are well-versed in the ideas of democracy; you may realise that at the time of me posting this, this article has had 495 Jumps. Personally, i hail this feature as a great success.
#41 - The PSP is the only device that runs UMD movies, so UMD movies are definitely PSP releated

#78 - That's assuming we haven't already thought of that, and assuming how long something stays "Jumped" isn't on a timer of some sort. We're already ahead of you on that one. ;)
Also, when this feature gets implemented, the jumps will only effect the order on our Blog of Blogs, not each individual blog. However, you will have the option of "filtering" the news list depending on the number of jumps on the individual blogs.
#79 - You shouldn't be able to keep jumping something just by refreshing. Once you jump, you shouldn't be able to click it again. If you've found a way to get around this, please send us an email by clicking the Contact Us link in the article.

This site used to not allow anon comments, but since they started to allow thwm, it's been ridiculus. If anyone has anything important to say the will register, and if they're still a jackass, ban them. Simple. As for the whole "jump it up" thing it's not bad for just ranking articles, but wouldn't it get very annoying to have the same article on the front page just because it was good, what's the point of REreading the same articile, it just takes up space that another article-one that could be important to some people-would.
P.S. About the constant off-topic issue, I do find it anoying, but as long as it has SOMETHING to do with the PSP I can live with it, but like that article about the twelve monitors being put up or something, that was ridiculus...
P.P.S. Just so that the staff doesn't get sidetracked from the main point of my post - GET RID OF ANON COMMENTS!!!

I think you guys should consider this!
We are registered members of this blog...Jake, just look at the comments, most of the complaining, ann oying, stupid comments are only posted by Anons!!
They should register first (to verify they know what is this blog is about) and then post comments!
Friggin Anons!

Re: Anonymous Comments - this isn't something that is likely to change. However, what will get better is the moderation of comments. Already our forum mods can remove/edit posts from comments. The team of Comment Moderators will continue to expand and be more 24/7.
Additionally, the banning of Anonymous Commenters is something that we CAN and DO employ. :)

Change the looks.

I'm simply stating that it ressembles a awfull lot like Digg.
Granted the color is different.
How about color coding it instead of using numbers.
Zero votes = Grey
Negative votes = Red
Positive votes = Green
of course youd have to allow people to unjump it.

I would go as far to say other sites need to include a feature like this, but it will probably end up like the hot or not meter on 1UP (or is that Gamespot?) and go un-recongnized.
But even more so, other sites need to recognize it and we need to let them know (I am going to write into them now). Because just as IGN sorely needs a revamp in their articles with things QJ and 1UP have been doing as far as blogs and comments in articles by users.
Just bringing the community closer together, making it more of a focus instead of the seperation they currently have. I mean, with Gamespot and IGN charging anually for worthless content we can get here and at 1UP for free (with ads) , they need to justify the price (20 bucks anually, plus ads???? Are you people Crazy????)

Please use negative jumps + positive jumps. Otherwise its a biased number. Imagine if you could only see positve replies on eBay? See what i mean.
And stop the AnonCowards. It was done before, we can do it again.

As far as I am aware there is no way to rip a UMD video to a video stream that can be put onto google video; FFIV would have had to come from a DVD/VHS or similar video medium - there is a reason why there will be a simultaneous edition of the UMD and DVD version in NA
I like the fact that comments are being monitored, jump it up seems like a great idea (any plans to have a "most jumped" column or similar? Kinda like the "most popular downloads"?)

Good one on the Jump it up feature, nice to see you lot working on enhancing our experience
However i think something broke when adding this feature,on Safari (Mac browser) some posts swap subject lines with others, so i get confused when i see a topic with the subject "NetHack v1.0c for PSP" and the body is about Lemmings.
Also, the comments box has disappeared and the right hand side menu starts at the bottom of the page past the articles.
Hope its fixable, cheers

I do agree that a jump it down would be good. I would also think that you should limit the amout of caracters that an "anonymous coward" could be able to write (more subscribers, smaller grunts to read from Anons lol)
Anyways keep it up even do this has been started with Digg. Your at lease doing it for us. peace out

*bug : by changing a different browser , I believe everyone can "jump" more than 1 time ( ex : me ,jumped .... too many times and stop at 2k )
* a IP filter would be more reliable

This is an obvious copy of digg. That much I don't really care about. But if you are going to steal an idea. Just give the original a little bit of credit.
And a quick side note... "Jump it up" is a little... lame, rename the digg button to something better. Even a "Nice" button sounds better to me.

While Milne and Gikas stood by their 12-month price targets on the stock, Wallace and Pachter had second thoughts about their previously stated targets. Pachter's pessimism was especially pronounced, as he lowered his target to $12, more than $4 lower than the lowest of the other three analysts' expectations.
"We are not optimistic about the prospects for Table Tennis (though we are reminded of our skepticism about THQ's Destroy All Humans), and we expect Bully to be a mediocre title at best," Pachter wrote. "Notwithstanding the company's continuing optimism about its effort to diversify into sports, we think that the experiment is not working."
It wasn't all gloomy for Pachter. He did note that Grand Theft Auto was still chugging along. He estimated that the franchise would account for 25 percent of the company's publishing revenues for the year and noted that "the company controls its own destiny, and is a key announcement away [the next installment of GTA?] from providing a catalyst for rapid share appreciation."
Pachter's fellow analysts were more upbeat. Gikas actually described Take-Twos results as "a slight positive overall." In his own note to investors, Wallace said the company's near-term woes are just another part of the transition between console generations.
"We still expect the next few quarters to be tough for TTWO and the rest of the industry due to transition-related issues, so there is nothing to get excited about near-term. Next year, we do expect TTWO to grow along with other companies in the space, as industry growth accelerates," Wallace wrote.
Interestingly enough, the market reaction to the stock has been quite positive today. After closing at $14.85 before revealing its quarterly results yesterday, Take-Two stock opened the day up slightly and gained more than 11 percent on the day, finishing up $1.66 to $16.51.

Also, in another section it'd be cool to be able to sort homebrew out from the amount of hits. Eg/ "SMM" gets heaps of "jump it up" hits so it's at the top of the homebrew but "SuperDumbHmbrwA pp" get's pushed to the bottom.
