Rumored details on Hitman 5: Agent 47 gets a stubble, female assassin character playable |
Listed in: PS3, Xbox 360, PC Gaming Tags: hitman 5, industry rumors, IO Interactive
Just recently we reported on how Agent 47 voice actor David Bateson let slip that IO Interactive is in fact working on a fifth installment for the Hitman franchise. This was followed by news that the developer had to layoff some staff, with one project being canned. With this bit of rumor we have for you today, you'll probably be heaving a sigh of relief as it doesn't look like it's Hitman 5 that got the sack. In fact, or rather, in rumor, word has it that they plan on making the game a "reboot".

A German blogger claims that thanks to a developer friend currently residing in Denmark, he's got dibs on what's up in the new Hitman title. According to him, the plan is to "reboot the entire series and Agent 47". He will also be sporting a new look, thanks to his stubble.
Other unconfirmed details on the supposed reboot are (as per Google Translate):
- Strong focus on story
- 47's "assignments" are open missions in previous games
- The game also contains elements which 47 are on assignments. These parts are more linear and are firearm-focused, cover, etc.
- The game is developed parallel to the other Hitman movie
- You will get to play as more than 47 during the game, including a female assassin
- David Bateson returns as the voice actor for Agent 47
If you remember, IO limply denied that Bateson was working on a current project with them. While that was the most categorical denial they could make, they did not make any effort to debunk the rumor on Hitman 5 being in development.
Anyway, as juicy as these details are, we're obviously gonna have to tag this under the RUmor section for now. We'll be sure to keep you posted.
