Sony Ericsson gives us an entirely new reason to celebrate the love month of February as they unveil Xperia Play. Finally, we're hearing -- and seeing -- something official about the much talked about PlayStation Phone.

While everyone else was watching the Super Bowl, Sony Ericsson surreptitiously updated their Facebook page with an image of Xperia play. To top that, they also announced the date for the "official announcement" of the mobile gadget is happening next week.

Unless the difference in price appeals to you, I'd go with the NGP.

-If you want the ultimate (console-like) portable gaming experience & you already got a phone anyway... (NGP for you).
-If you care about convenient portability & casual games with yay-buttons and you don't have android phone already (XperiPlay for you).
-If you don't care about physical buttons -specially the shoulders one- for casual games ( many choices, but go with iOS devices for wider selection of games)
-If you can't wait for NGP (like me :P) and you want to build your ps game library earlier till NGP. ( why not planning on both, android + NGP).
-If you want Nintendo exclusives, care about 3D and the backward compatible games from over 930 DS titles.( 3DS for you)
Personally I think NGP & XperiaPlay complementing each others, there is a time I can carry my PSP with me, but most of the time I can't. Ps suite will make some games more accessible in the go.

we don't now much about it yet, so I wouldn't say fail until it get reviewed or I used it my self.
If they put analog nub like in the PSP.. it would be great but we all know HOW THICK it will be if they added that.
optical dual analog probably the best compromise solution they can come up with. It's thin and dosnt take space from the handest ( more space for batteries and othe important stuff) but yet it will be better than a virtual sticks with your fat thumbs covering the screen.

Just wait for a better android phone to come out and get PS Suite.
Plus there are apps out there that let you map PS3 controller via bluetooth.
