His current PS3-hacking case against Sony is not even finished yet, and already George Hotz is already planning something up his sleeve.
Needless to say, we're pretty sure Sony won't be all too pleased to hear about this one. Moreso if GeoHot, as he's more famously known, actually pursues it.

As revealed over at his official blog, GeoHot is now targeting the up and coming PlayStation Phone, the Xperia Play, for his next hacking adventures. But to be able to pull that off, he's going to need your help.
Yes, he's asking for donations.

Love, someone who actually knows to do his research before making claims.

People are starving and he wants us to donate to him just so he could have some more fun. WTF...

Despite that, I still prefer Sony consoles over others, but I think they're being way too greedy, and not listening to consumers.
Like most companies really...

They went ahead on their own and tried PSPgo, it failed because they didn't listen to us!
I don't prefer Sega, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, it ends up which one has the best catalogue that suits me.

It didn't work out too well.

That's what you get for annoying the hackers, Sony.

can't hack something thats already open sourced. look up the AOSP (Android open source Project) you'll be amazed.

1. online games are now full of hackers/cheaters
2. pirating games
3. removal of other os
4. diverting Sony's attention from developing more/better games to solving the hacking issue
5. making the gaming community feel better about their physical appearance
What a hero! This guy deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

only thing hotz will be able to "hack" is int other words the android OS, making it possible to install custom ROMs, which is possible with almost any android based device anyway, unless hotz goes after the PS part of the phone, enabling piracy for the xperia play exclusive games, that would probably need some hacking but whats the point? it doesn't lead to more awesome homebrew, just piracy...
the phone just is too open to need any hacking, he could rather same some money and buy a NGP when they come out and hack that :)

From now on, all Sony systems are going to be hacked.
You lose, Sony.

"hack" the word is "hack". you can't "hack" something that is already completely open to edit. again the word is "hack" just in case because it obvious you can't correlate

As for the Experia he means jailbreaking it to allow the carrier of your choice.
Don't people have any sense these days...
Reply
jailbreaking doesn't do that. you have to get your phone unlocked. jailbreaking =/= unlocking.
and how does that hurt sony? if this about getting even, why would you allow people more access to the phone? that's retarded, geohot is retarded. no wonder he's being sued. worse hacker ever

jailbreaking is for iphone, ipad, ipod. for the use of or intallation of unsigned code or unapproved code on apple devices.
rooting is for android. android is an open souced project licened under apache. android is already open to ANYTHING where as apple's is restricted. the use of root gives the phone owner suer user rights on the device and file system instead of running in usermode. there is only 1 restriction to android and thats the bootloader and only motorola has been locking it down to prevent of installing other versions of androidOS, or installing of custom kernels.
so far all android based devices are unlocked to be used on any service (so far there might be 1 or 2 out there) with the use of root ervices a person can change the prl number or even the market.build for useing other markets from diffrent service providers.
a good example. my droid 1 was made by motorola it runs CDMA and under the verizon network, but with a little tinkering i have it running on a t-mobile network instead. why because i can.

the hackers around the world must be so embarrassed to be associated with this douche

so turning a phone that geohot buys into a toaster is supposed to annoy sony, how?
unlocking doesnt hurt sony nor the provider that it's on because both the provider and sony still get paid. also why would you unlock you phone if you're on a plan? that's just dumb
the only idiot i see here is you.
