Watch: OFW 6.30 savegame exploit? |
Listed in: PSP Tags: jeerum, psardumper
Well, here we go again guys. Hot on the heels of the recently released PSARDumper for the official firmware 6.30, homebrew dev jeerum has dropped by our forums to show off a potential savegame exploit for the said firmware. Fake or legit? You decide.
**UPDATE**
It looks like Sony has yet to patch J416DY's recent game exploit as new video was recently posted by mamosuke to show off the said exploit still works on OFW 6.30, but unfortunately according to wololo over at the LAN.ST forums:
mamosuke is not a lier, the exploit is real.
Unfortunately it is an exploit in a game, so it is useless for most people:
psp2000/3000 owners can stay in 6.20, and pspgo owner won't be able to buy the game because it will be patched on the psn if its name is ever made public.

Stop running around calling the dev's that give you your exploits you love so much "fukrs". Think about it, the dumper was released few hours ago and this hello world came out not to long ago. The dev's have to be careful not to give up to much info to the Sony spys, and also see if they can make something of this. However, unfortunately, I doubt this will become anything useful, seeing as how the title would be patched the second the name is released =/

They used to give us exploits. Now they're in the business of waving accomplishments in the face of the general public. They come up with something and sit on it in the name of "secrecy" so that Sony can't patch it. If you want to be so secret, why not just keep it to yourself? Then there's no way Sony will know about it, and you'll also be less of a douchebag. Faerie, I'm with you on this one.

Think about it, the HEN for 6.20 was made about 9 months ago and its still not released. The creator of that is my comment of fukr directed at.
If they create it, show a video then dont release it they deserve the title of fukrs.

The main point of an exploit is to show that a security feature of the System is vulnerable and we post it. And all of you expect that a CFW comes right afterwards? It's pretty a lost cause if little shits like you expect something like that just so you don't have to pay for your games.
Right now be happy with what we have. The ability to run unassigned code and applications on the PSP using the HBL is nothing short of an amazement right now. If you want a CFW and you can't wait, then go find out how to make your own. Figure out the hours of work it takes to make that kind of stuff. We don't need your power, money or respect. We do this for the community that actually gives a shit. Not a community of 12 year olds and a bunch of kiddie-script hackers who think that they're super awesome because they can download an ISO from the internet, put it in a folder and play it right afterwards. We don't do this for you, We do this for all the people who are busy doing their own actual work and making progress because the PSP has more potential then a $150 dollar paperweight that does everything a MP3 player does and play games.

Now I don't spend a lot of time on the forums for this stuff so I don't know if Negro is a dev or not. Either way he is trying to send a message and makes a very good point to a lot of stupid people that only care for the piracy end.
A lot of people give the PSP a bad reputation in the eyes of game developers because they know that should they release a game for it they will lose quite a lot of money. Obviously they would prefer to develop for a system that will more or less guarantee their profit should the game be popular.
It's needless to say that the cause of this are the the homebrew developers that try so hard to make this system much better than it already is. It's then that someone makes an ISO loader/extractor for the purpose of it just being more convenient to have your games on your memory stick than to have heaps of discs with you. I used to have a 1000 modded via pandora, and ripped my UMD's to my mem stick cos I couldn't stand the load times.
However this is where the problem is; people rip and distribute their ISOs via the internet, and people download them to save cash, harming the developers and thus giving the system a bad rep.
I think it's good that the devs haven't released their exploits yet.. We've all seen them patched and made useless, and noone wants that. This also keeps a fair few psps safe from piracy too.

I mean, since PSP Go doesn't have UMD and all.

Which reminds me, now that 6.30 is out... why the hell aren't all those 6.20 exploits been released yet? a CFW is needed... though thanks to Prometheus, I could care less about a 6.XX CFW at this point, got game support so what else is needed??

1) DaX left the scene back in 5.00M33-6... an ancient firmware by now (seriously, it's over a year old no?). Since the king left, tons of little "teams" have tried to hog the glory and failed miserably.
2) Lack of new exploits being released = lack of brewing base don said exploits. Sure, we have 5.50CFW thanks to GEN, and a HBL for 6.20 systems (still no HEN yet? Really??), but due to the lack of released exploits on newer firmware, there hasn't been much updated to our systems... just some apps that plugins already do for us as well as unofficial patches to old emulators... making the emulators LESS stable and LESS useable (ie Snes9x).
3) Sony's growing lack of features in newer CFW. In the older days, DaX released a CFW on a OFW release that brought with it substantial features such as a new XMB, new RSS features, updates to the music player, etc.. Sony lately is implementing already-made brews into their firmware... so the purpose in creating a new CFW is kinda deteriorating... though updating would reduce the amount of 'brew we would need on our memory sticks! That's a nice saver!!
Also... Team GEN isn't following their promised words.. 6.20 GEN was confirmed by a few sources including some official team members (not sending out any names), but considering they promised it back a few months and haven't really announced anything since, it's safe to say it was a publicity stunt, much like these videos of unreleased exploits devs brag about and expect us to worship them for something they won't share. Bragging rights? Not quite... can't really brag about something everyone ignores you for...

It's completely unrelated to hacking. The PSP is far more secure than the DS or the iPhone. the iPhone's firmware usually get hacked before they even get released... yet it's the most money-making device on the planet

You say it like they don't deserve it.
They do because they're doing it to themselves.
They should have seriously stuck to sound systems. That's the only thing they're good at.

ONLY thing sony has succeeded in, is gaming.
the ps1= CLASSIC
the ps2= EVEN BETTER
the psp= FREE Games = uber accomplishment= more psp sales.
the ps3= GREAT SYSTEM

Why else can't anyone get passed 5.50 with a stable cfw?
Can you imagine all those years work down the drain, because some kid wanted to look cool to everyone?
Everyone should be happy there is any support at all.
I know I wouldn't, even if I did know how.
