There's gotta be something loopy about seeing the Windows button in a PSP... - Image 1 There's gotta be something loopy about seeing the Windows button in a PSP... - Image 2

Before people start raising heckles about something from Microsoft on a Sony product - because this ain't from Microsoft... Da_MerV emails us about his Vista Shade for Flash-enabled PSPs. What it is is a Flash app portal that will launch PSP Flash homebrews. That is, incidentally, themed like Windows Vista, complete with Start button, user icons, and all...

But what is nice about this is that Da_MerV says this should work off 2.7+ firmwares, which means "even if your one of the unfortunate stuck with a homebrewless PSP, you can still browse your flash 'homebrew'. Okay, on to specifics:
  • up to 15 different Flash apps can be launched directly from Vista Shade
  • customizable desktop, wallpaper, user ID, using the included Vista Shade config.exe program or by manually editing the configuration file (see Readme for more details)
  • Easy to install:
    • Connect your memorystick (no-duh)
    • Drag the contents of 'MS_ROOT' into your memorystick
    • Setup config file (see below)
    • Place icons and swf files into 'Vista' folder
    • Disconnect and browse to 'file:/vista.swf' and Bookmark if desired
    • If it loads correctly, Enjoy! If not, check your files again!
Download links below. Okay, does anyone know how to bring up Task Manager on this thing? We can't find "Ctrl-Alt-Del" anywhere on the PSP...

Okay, not to mean to the person who did this.

BUT WHO THE CARES ABOUT BLOODY FLASH IMITATIONS OF WINDOWS OS.

I MEAN SERIOUSLY WHY BOTHER ?

IF you have something new to add, some create inspiration, make some thing new and cool. If you even can master it make a theme for one of the shells.

Otherwise going home and have a wank, or make actual cool flash games and animations for real computers, or even the psp. BUT DON"T WASTE YOUR EFFORT ON FAKE FLASH SHELLS

This is pointless, why does qj even put this kind of crap on the front page. If someone really wants crappy flash apps so much they'd go and play them on PC. 2.8 users dont want to play this stuff, they wanna play the real games.

...Portals suck.

Based upon his work he is a good coder, and since you flamers are such *****s, hes probably left. Your comments represent QJ...

» Horrible comments.

I think QJ needs to make people register now or something, because these useless flaming comments are very annoying. If you don't like it just don't post, why do you even bother? This kind of stuff are for FREE, you lazy leechers that don't do a sh1t but just flame other people's work.

Can you play flash movies from the psp desktop or do you need to launch the browser using this thingy?

If i can play flash movies without the need of launching the browser to connect first then i find this useful for me, as i am into flash.

I will register a little later. This would be the 216th site that im a member of:)

» How do I install programs?

I like portals because they won't really screw up your psp, that is why I am using this and don't get me wrong I think this looks pretty good for the casual user but I have to ask how the heck do you install new flash programs in it? I downloaded it for that reason and I can't figure out how to do it, if somebody knows please help.

by Portal User! - 2006-11-20 12:40
» Thanks

Well I will give it a shot or two more. I am somewhat a noobie at flash and psp modding because I really have no interest to learn either of them (because modding the psp can have dier effects). Anyway thanks for the support and I will go try again!

by Holly - 2006-11-21 06:22
» and again...

another os-imitating flash portal made --> why not make one that can run UMD and homebrew, and why shouldn't there be a network update for the 2.71SE-* people? Instead of disable it have it routed to the 2.71SE updates! ~ lol

» need help

how do i launch this from my psp?

by Portal User! - 2006-11-22 17:35
» Reply to "need help"...

Actually you do it through the psp's browser and you would usually type in "file:/ms_root/vista.swf" if you put the ms_root folder that the .zip file contains in the root folder of the psp. Now launching other programs on this portal is a different story, I haven't even been able to sucessfully do that myself. Good luck with it anyway though!

by Sandman9188 - 2006-11-22 18:15
» shockwave apps

i just got this and got it to load but i cant get any other apps, even the ones that came with it in the zip, to open either. i can open them seperatly but not through the vista.

by sandman9188 - 2006-11-23 17:09
» update

I figured it out, the vista folder has to be in the root not /ms_root

» just made it work 3.01

by kanar-is-back - 2006-12-06 05:33
» can u remove it ?

can you delete this app if it doesn't work ? thx.

looks nice, but first I wanna make sure it won't destroy my psp like a downgrade could, and also that I can remove it.
