Had I not seen the still-image "cinematics," I would have thought this to have been a GBA release. Without the voiceovers, it may as well have been. Truly - look at those sprites.
For the time being, I'll pass, thank you.
If you're a fan of tactical RPGs AT ALL, then I'd highly recommend picking it up.
The storyline, although your typical RPG fare, is actually really well done. As you can see in the videos above, the voice acting is really good as well, though there are a two characters in the game I've encountered who have poor voice acting(speaking in monotone whenever they talk regardless of the situation.)
The gameplay is great. It's similar to what you'd find in FFTactics, except that whenever you play as a class, you have access to every ability that the class has. You have three skill slots, also gaining an extra skill slot every 10 levels, to equip other class abilities. Equipping a classes originals(the class moveset) costs two skill slots, while equipping an innate ability such as Wait heal MP or Equip Random Class equipment takes one skill slot. There's alot of customization changing between classes and equipping abilities that you've learned.
Early on in the game, they sortof force you to use specific classes to have a better chance at winning. While it's a small problem, it's actually quite good because it gets you used to all the classes and abilities, and it doesn't feel like any sortof tutorial, because you're actually trying to figure out how these classes work.
It's an amazing game, being one of the best on the PSP in my opinion. I'd actually recommend picking it up over FFTactics due to the fact that FFTactics has already been released and most people already own the title, also mentioning the few extras they throw in the port aren't worth the extra 39.99 when you already own the original.
