Valkyria Chronicles 2 took the series to a relatively lighter school setting, but it seems that with the next installment, Sega is taking war a little more seriously. The game's trailer shows a darker setting that takes the flowers and sunshine out of the war and into a story that takes a player into the heat of the conflict.
The main squad, 422, a.k.a. "The Nameless", also seems to have both a Valkyria and a Darcsen, which can only spell more conflict.
Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be out in Japan by January 27th next year.

I'm really looking forward to this game, I hope they will announce the english release soon too. The only thing I don't like about VC2 is the plot (and maybe the characters, since they are too generic), and it looks like the story will be great in this episode.
