Those of you who've either played through Final Fantasy 7 are familiar with the fact that story pretty much started in the middle, with the backstory filled in as it the plot developed. But even if you haven't played the classic game or seen Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, Square Enix is giving fans the story behind the story in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 - and has two videos to prove it.

The first video explains the reason why Zack Fair was sent to Wutai in the first place: Soldier First Class Genesis has gone rogue and Zack and co. have been asked to bring him in. Add Zack's hyperenthusiastic glomp to that and you've got the beginning of a story on your hands.

Square Enix's second video features another familiar face, but without the menace that's so often associated with him - yet. Sephiroth takes the time to talk to Zack about his parents, then suddenly catches himself and brings his team's focus back to the mission.

But enough of that. You'll see what we mean if you watch these:

» well..

At first I was kinda hoping the dub wasnt that bad. Till Zack opennd his mouth lmao. "Hiya". noooo -_- he's suposed to say "Nice to meet you". And what's with his voice? lol

And Sephiroth's voice wasnt any better, lol!

If I there is only 1 eng version (dubbed only) I'll feel kinda forced to buy it so I'll get the story. I'd much much rather play with japanese voices with english text.

Don't worry. You're not the only one who thinks that way. I have friends who are more into original Japanese voices as well. :)

» haha

my jaw dropped when he said "hiya".. haha.. cant they at least find someone who sounds similar? or make a jap dub with english subs? wouldnt that make the world a better place? LOL

» poor voice acting

I hope they will let us switch audio and play with Jap audio/subs man that was just very very very poor voice acting.

.....I.... I'm..... shocked.....

Why do they give Sephiroth, the best badass in the whole gaming world and best character ever made such a bad voice? That's sooo cruel...... ;/

» AC voices

I would have used the voices from Advent Children

Why they didn't use them is beyond me.

» Voice "actors"

The voices are tolerable enough... One thing urks me a little though... Is Charlie Sheen Sephiroth's voice 0_o

by RuthlessOne - 2008-02-09 08:41
» O.o

ROFL Sephiroth sounds like a douche...

by Stealth! - 2008-02-09 11:12
» Its the same......

Actor from AC thats why some people don't like his voice. I personally like the actor to be honest i think he plays Zacks voice well, for english anyway.

Sephy's Voice was cool too. I like both videos

» HIYA!

» not bad

i dont find the voices themself so bad, it's the constant stops. I hate that, they stop after like every 5 words as if they can't read the script!!!!!!!!! ! oh well i will probably get used to it when it comes out.

» fan translation...

anyone remember those old fan translated Japanese SNES games? ala Star Ocean? It'd be kinda nice if someone made a custom version of the Japanese version, with translated text and such, keeping the voices in their native language.

(assuming you cant change audio tracks)

by Charlybob - 2008-02-10 01:11
» Other way around for me

Seph's didn't seem so bad, but Zacks...

He sounded like a little kid.

» americans

need to wake up. how could you ruin japanese stuff? especially games and animes! holy crap. IT IS BETTER TO PUT SUBTITLES THAT MAKE A DUMB AMERICAN DUB. and then what? AMERICANS will make a DRAGONBALL Z MOVIE? it sure will be a flop.

if your little brains can't realize how bad your dubbing is, imagine your SUPERMAN talking in JAPANESE saying SUGOI or KAWAIIII!!! now you know.

» I believe

That the reason the voices sound bad to you is cause the voice director messed up with the stuff.

In AC, the VA's did the same voices for the same characters but it was better because of the voice director.

Its not the voice thats bad, its the director that directs it, thats what makes it bad.

Infact the voices are good, its just that the director seems to have not forced them hard enough to bring emotions out and such to sound good.

Voice directors are supposed to work you hard till you make the voice sound right but the director seems a bit lazy with it. I know voice acting and the reason they sound bad is cause the voice director doesnt know how to do it correctly. Zacks voice sounds different from the movie but Seph sounds the same.

Interesting point. Buck stops with the director, then...
