The 3rd Birthday graphics are almost at par with console graphics |

Originally announced for mobile phones, Aya Brea returns in The 3rd Birthday, slated only for the PSP. Siliconera got a few words from the dev team, and while they didn't go into detail about how it went through that transition, they certainly gave some very welcome info.

“The basic system and the project itself didn’t change much between the transition from mobile phones and the PSP. The design is something that we started to change,” said Isamu Kamikokuryo, the game's art director. Kamikokuryo was also part of the team that worked on Final Fantasy XIII, and he brought some of the core staff from that title into The 3rd Birthday.
Speaking of Final Fantasy XIII, Aya Brea's comeback may not look as stunning as the last FF release given the difference in platform, but according to game director Hajime Tabata, there won't be such a wide disparity. “The graphics are almost on par with a console because the team working on it is putting in a lot of effort,” he said.

Seems pretty vague when he said "console", on par with PS3 is nowhere close.

Graphics seem to be the only thing square hasn't lost the knack for yet.
So if the gameplay isn't completely busted (and the FMV's aren't completely faggy) then I'll be impressed.
For square at least.
