Tekken 5 game saves not compatible with PSP Slim?

Any of you guys got a PSP Slim yet? Any of you running into minor hitches? Well, themacx seems to have stumbled upon some compatibility issue with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. He sent in an email about the minor error and led us to a link of his YouTube video as evidence.

The error centers on loading game saves. In the video below, he boots Tekken 5 on both PSPs (PSP Slim on top, PSP Phat on the bottom) and after a while, his PSP Slim gets an alert: "This game data was saved on a different system and cannot be loaded. Start game anyway?" Check it out for yourself; it's just a quick 30-second video:

Right now, we're wondering about the extent of this compatibility issue. Are there other games whose saves won't work either? This one's stumped us. That and I personally don't have two UMDs of Tekken lying around to test this out.

Thanks to themacx for sending in the tip!

this is normal

this was to prevent ppl sharing game saves, esp since data is ranked online for some of the mini games. this is not a psp slim-specific problem.

and...

once again sonys attempt to alter systems to make them "unhackable" causes more problems than it fixes

meh

Its probably MAC Address locked or something.

its the game

tekken saves are always like that. it has nothing really to do with the slim

right

n8nmonster is completely right. I had the same problem with the "older" PSP of my friend. that's simply to prevent people from sharing game saves. AGAIN: THIS PROBLEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PSP SLIM!

right

n8nmonster is completely right. Sony made simply to prevent people from sharing game saves. AGAIN: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PSP SLIM!

mehh.

the guy who made this video is an idiot. That's normal. Every console and game save has this protection.

NOT A PSP SLIM PROBLEM.

The saves are locked to each PSP (using OpenPSID or sigcheck, probably). Try them on another PSP, they won't work.

tekken is one of those game that wont let you share your game save on another psp. nothing to see here. move along.

No...

This is by design. You are not supposed to be able to use game saves between different PSPs. This was to prevent people from sharing game saves. Thanks for providing "news," QJ. Please research stuff like this before you post it...
