TA-086 makes its presence felt once more |
Ó
You all know our stand on homebrews and how we support them, so believe us now when we say that we're hoping that this alleged PSP motherboard will cooperate with homebrews. But again, we found these new images of the much feared TA-086 on a Chinese site. This time, there seem to be no mistakes, as the pictures are bigger and they also appear legit. But hey, that's just our take on it, feel free to speculate.
As far as we know, even the Chinese site doesn't have any information regarding it. We tried our best to translate their site (thanks to Google and Altavista), plus we looked for other information elsewhere, but to no avail. However, we can promise you to be vigilant about this issue just so we can inform you about new developments. We thank PSPWerld for the tip - for now, here are the new images.

firmware and hardware upgrades suck. less people buy new psps now because of ta 082. i wanted to get a white psp but didn't coz they come with 082. so yeah screw sony. i can't imagine how much the sales will go down once psps with 086 mother boards start appearing
I have a white psp (uk) and it's not a ta-082, it came with 2.6 and i downgraded it to 1.5 when the first 2.6 downgrader came out.
I would agree that fewer people buy psps new because of the risk of ending up with an '82 (or worse now), most people i know went to ebay to find one.
sony needs to do sometihing about PIRACY, not crap about blocking EVERYTHING...
The article there dosen't tell much... it just make a joke about when you buy a new psp , and you dont see that number on the back of your UMD slot... don't get happy, because it could be a TA-086 ....
I was going to buy a friend a PSP... dang... this sucks
But the linked site told me that TA-086 can be downgraded like they did with TA-082 in some China Game shops, in terms of hardmodding, which I couldn't confirm, someone claimed that they run a software to trick a TA-082 to run like TA-081 then downgrade, but first time requires opening of the PSP.
The article did not state that what TA-086 is different than TA-082, however, earlier comments from the earlier 0okm's discovery stating that TA-086 might not find IC1003 in the UMD slot like u can in TA-082 is confirmed to be true.
They will just lose sales because I don't like paying £30 for a game. If they want to stop piracy maybe they should lower down the psp games' prices.
Sony don't care about you. They don't make much/any profit on hardware sales.
Piracy is what sony won't compromise. so they seems want to abundant the production of TA-079 & TA-081 motherboard. kind of killing 2 birds with 1 stone. i guess they made TA-086 1st to kill downgrading kernal hack & 2nd probably made for PS3. what else then? this is truly a new challenge for hackers/dev. too bad...just too bad
with intention to block the mod chip industries. sad new. i hope all wrong.
Besides already doing what TA-082 does (blocking any firmware lower than 2.5), I'm assuming this may have the new WiFi upgrade that was talked about earlier, maybe some minor hardware upgrades, maybe blocking out kernel access, who knows..?
why the hell are they making new motherboards????
what the hell do they want????
screw this, now ppl will hate psp cuz of this....(no downgrade, no homebrew...)
to all pathetic winer above that cant afford games: get a job.
he should have used the right font... and wait for april fools...
it might be true but these images are false..
Hackers are still able to hack the psp and run isos when Sony tries to completely block everything. Imagine how easy it would be if sony allowed somebrew while trying to only blow piracy...chances are it would certainly be hacked in no time... thats why they have to block EVERYTHING...that and homebrew doesn't help them..
30 Euroes is about $60 dollars I believe. Where I live, most games are between $20-$40 (at the most) new...so prices don't bother me at all. I think the prices are fair..
Companies make new motherboards because they find a way to make them cheaper/run better, thus making them a few extra bucks and possibly giving you a product that will last longer. Of course this is going to add some more security, but them making new motherboards is not up to you, so quit whining! The psp is a great system with or without homebrew, and most people don't care about running homebrew, so this isn't going to affect a majority of the people in terms of that.
ok... if sony wanted to really stop piracy they would put a new security feature on the UMD ... and stop it from being ripped...
maybe better encryption....
theyre just too worried about the PS3 launch ..
As long as I have my 1.5 PSPs I don't care if Sony comes out with a TA-090 motherboard. I'll just keep playing my homebrew and ISOs on my PSPs. Unless they get bricked which I don't see happening since I don't flash every little modified firmware or button swapper that comes along every 10 min. I have no worries if for some reason release groups stop ripping and releasing PSP ISOs I will just rent them and rip the games myself since I love the ISOs (I have over 150). And once the PS3 gets hacked I will get those games for free just like I do with my Xbox360 and all my other systems.
I have been insulted by an unregistered "someone" what ever will I do? I CAN afford the games but I just like getting them for free. Also the reason the PSP is doing so poorly isn't because of piracy since most people don't know how to play ISOs on their PSPs. The reason is the games themselves most of them are not that great and innovative. Out of the 150 or so ISOs I have I like maybe 6 I just download them to archive them for later and just because I can.
ok i have a psp FW 2.6 and the outside # is "WS259" meaning not a "TA-082" motherboard right???well.....
the # on the right of the psp on the back is "IC1003"
and on the left side the # is "IC6001" but from the looks of it,i have read that the # on the right determins if its a TA-082 board right?well then does my psp have a box that has a number that says that its downgradeable yet the number on the back it says its not???!!!WTF!!please help me out ppls!!which motherboard do i have???
lol, hell yea right on dude....
I LOVE ISO'S
Everyone knows the TA-082 motherboard, the "super motherboard" that is not enabled to use homebrew applications, the "IC1003" mark on the motherboard can show that it's a TA-082.
Now, if you're happy that you don't have a TA-082 motherboard on your 2.71 PSP, don't be happy yet, there's now a MORE horrible motherboard, the TA-086, don't even try to downgrade (that means don't use the old applications to downgrade)
Not an advertisement: Some game shops already said that this motherboard can also downgrade to 2.71 SE firmware.
NO WONDER SONY IS LOSING MONEY WITH PEOPLE LIKE U HAVING 150 ISOS
1 Euro is aboot $1.20 USD
I have over 100 ISOs, but before i could downgrade (from 2.71 > 1.5) i bought alot of UMD games, 10 to be exact, most of them when they just came out. and at an average retail of £30 per game, thats £300 right there. and you know what? i only play about three of them because most of the games out for the psp are frankly quite crap, and also take some time to load. And out of the 100+ ISOs i have i only play a few of them too, maybe 5, one of them being the awesome GTA VCS. Personally I think sony have had enough money out of me already to keep my percentage of the UMD market afloat.
The fact is that each psp game costs a small percentage of what we're expected to pay for them and sony are very greedy and know that they can get away with charging people that much money for a game, and people will always buy them.
The very small percentage of people that actually use ISOs pose no threat at all to sony, but as with most companies, they won't rest until they're making maximum profits, whether they need the money or not.
So what i'm saying is that there is no problem at all running ISOs, because the number of people buying games will always greatly outweigh the ones running ISOs, and yeah if games were more realistically priced i'd probably but them again (like under £10)(and if they were actually worth the money)
