A new drama has erupted on the PSP scene over the weekend when Jeerum unexpectedly released the user mode exploit for the demo of the Japanese game, Minna no Sukkiri, that eventually lead to a new Half Byte Loader update.

The only problem is... to quote Wololo's post:

"This demo exploit was known by several hackers, and had been found before Jeerum by (at least) the following people: Darxploit, Flyer, minomushi, some1. These people made the clever move of keeping this as secret as possible, and contacting us (mamosuke, j416, JJS, m0skit0, and myself) in order to discuss release plans."

"I had written a long explanation on how stupid this leak release was, but then realized that such drama is mostly useless. Let’s just say that Sony will patch both the Hen and this exploit in their next firmware, while everybody already knew that TN had been working on “something” on 6.35 involving a VSH exploit. Well, at least he won’t have to waste this one…"

"Thumbs down to Jeerum for releasing this now. Man, had you waited a few weeks after Sony’s next firmware, you’d have been in a much better position.This exploit is nothing but a call to sceKernelExitGame. Once you load the game and click on “continue”, this will simply exit to the XMB."

No and I don't really plan to. All he wanted was credit out in the PSP hacking scene before the only known name was Total_Noob. Now, if TN releases his VSH exploit, we will have 2 exploits wasted instead of 1. But if TN doesn't release it, who's to say that Sony doesn't find it first and patch it regardless? It's a sticky situation and I don't like it. Regardless, I give him props for doing this, but I'm not happy about it.

ye, it works pretty well...
network libraries haven't been added, so don't expect wifi related homebrews

Wait, so it was done and he was going to just keep it to himself? And someone more considerate than himself forced his hand?

No, I think what happened was that they wanted to wait for a later firmware to release it for. So it was prematurely released.

It wasn't Jeerum's to release. Although the product was finished, with T_N's exploit coming out soon enough, there was bound to be a firmware update by Sony. Had Jeerum waited a few weeks, the release would have been much more feasible.

I suppose, if anything, T_N doesn't have to waste a VSH exploit now.

I'm really glad that exploits are being found, and I'm especially glad that things are being made out of them...
But what I really want is one to be completely unannounced until release... I don't want to hear anyone claiming they're making things anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to know that TN is releasing his HEN any day now. I'm just tired of kids whining and complaining that they don't have it yet.
Sure, I'd like it myself, but if I wanted it the instant I heard of it, I'd learn to code myself.
Can't we just be surprised anymore?
I know this post is going to get flamed, but it's such a cool feeling inside to actually be surprised with an unannounced release.
There are good things about leaked information though. I like knowing about games to come out and other info like that, but it just seems a bit much when it comes to the PSP scene nowadays.

Either way, if the VSH exploit TN was working with were released, this exploit this article is about wouldn't have been wasted, to be used later. We'd still have two bullets, and it doesn't matter what order they're fired in.

I think they shouldn't say a thing. How do you think $ony find about them and patches them? Morons talking about them and posting videos showing how its done, giving $ony time to patch it and release a new firmware.

IF they SHUT UP, did their work and only said about it on release day then $ony are SOL and wont be able to patch it as its released before $ony know and we win.

I hope there is a ISO loader for the GO soon. I don't want to hear a thing till the release as thats the only way we will get it.

BTW, this TN release is the useless one. It's for the old 6.20 firmware and all it does is nothing new. Homebrew already runs via HBL and you need HBL to launch HN so what is it good for? I think its a joke.

So you need to do 1 more step to run homebrew... useless.
