if there's any publisher out there that can back that claim, it's square enix.

Yeah I gotta say, I wasn't impressed with that trailer. Not only is it bad that they are obviously trying to make their own version of Monster Hunter, but that it seems to be..... not that great.

Capcom has decided to sign on to do, Monster Hunter on the 3DS! *insert happy dance here*

It was important for Sony to ink an exclusive deal with Square for a game like this because quite frankly MH is the only reason to own that machine at this point.

There are a lot of other great games on the machine, such as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

For you, it's all about the size, huh?
Well, somewhere else it may be true that size matters, but not in gaming.
Game size does not equal play time.

"Game size does not equal play time"

Very true, such as Final Fantasy 1 to 3 use to be around 2 to 4 megabytes (LOL), and yet I spent many many hours on it~!

But, not sure for MH on the DS...

Didn't we hear of a hardware-pushing game before? Peace Walker wasn't it? Of course limitations will be pushed the more devs learn and utilize feature of the hardware-at-hand... kinda like how Quest64 had bragging rights..... of course once devs learned of the N64 and the way it functions and what they could get away with, we got Majora's Mask... Though I will say, the PSP HAS come a LONG way since the days of Tomb Raider.

Yet you didn't mention Dracula X Chronicles? That's easily the best game on the system.

Good games on the PSP that weren't mentioned. Will also list remakes but not ports.

Dracula X Chronicles
Wild ARMs XF
Half Minute Hero
Field Commander
Wipeout Pure/Pulse
Pursuit Force/Pursuit Force Extreme Justice
Crimson Gem Saga
Star Wars Battlefront Renegade/Elite Squadron
Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman, WTF Did I Do to Deserve This
Syphon Filter Dark Mirror
Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow
Resistance Retribution
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Mega Man Powered Up
Star Ocean First Departure
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Push PSP to its Limits? LOL :D

Apply Anti-Aliasing or GT trick then I'll accept that you're pushing PSP to its limits.

All PSP games have crappy graphic edges

I've talked to a developer and they said anti-aliasing is possible, they just don't pay attention to it due to time constraint.

Hopefully it will be as challenging as monster hunter. The difficulty of monster hunter was one of the reasons it became one of greatest games on the psp!

I could give a rat's *** if they keep their promise of borderline graphics, this trailer looks AWESOME. Square-enix+monster hunter= Epic win. Just hope this is as in depth with armor creation as monster hunter, and I hope they have more character customization options. this just became my most anticipated game of 2010.

So is there anything else to these "monster hunter" style games then whacking away at various dragons?

Shadow of collossus improbably pulled off just boss fights because of the puzzle mechanics and the beautiful art direction.

I'm sure square will have the nicest rendered effeminate hero's possible, but thats really all the do as far as character design.

I just dont see how these kind of games can sustain much interest unless you where the type who was also endlessly entertained by hacking swarms of identical enemies in the Dynasty wars games.
