Those one-eyed, cheerful, little tribespeople are back and grooving to the beat of four new gameplay videos from Sony Computer Entertainment America's (SCEA) Patapon for the PlayStation Portable. The new videos feature some of the huge bosses and other baddies you and your war-mongering band of Patapons will be sure to encounter in the game.

If you're wondering why the Patapons sound so happy after slaughtering their prey, it's because the game was developed by the same creators of LocoRoco, another wholesome game on the PSP. However, despite the war-like demeanor the cute, little critters have, the game gets a lot of credit for its innovative and highly addictive gameplay.

In any case, that's enough fanboy raving for today. You can watch all four gameplay videos from Patapon below. Enjoy!

until i saw how repetitive and mildly annoying the gameplay is...

I was definitely interested, but after playing the Japanese demo and seeing several vids, I've found out it melts down to "PATA PATA PATA PON" 100 times in a row...not exactly the most entertaining rhythm game. But my perception maybe skewed. Maybe I missed something. I'll still keep an eye and ear out for this and see what the reviewers have to say about it come release day.

» repetitive gameplay?

To be honest, the game isn't so much of a rhythm game but rather has its appeal aimed for strategy gamers who enjoy a very off beat kind of RTS game. I find it very amusing that you basically skin bosses and other monsters to make even more Patapons. I'm definitely going to be reviewing this game once we get a copy of it. :)

Gotta love those happy little critters whenever they decapitate their prey and have a little dino-on-the-barbie. XD
