Sony sues YouTube poster of PlayStation Phone leak

Sony's on a suing rampage. Apart from the hot topic of the media giant suing Mr. George Hotz over his PS3 hack, Sony's now turning its guns on yet another "offender", this time a YouTube poster, for leaking videos of the PS Phone.

The unfortunate recipient of Sony's wrath is one user who goes by the handle xxmajstor, or Abdullah Ahamad in real life. The lawsuit was filed last Friday, January 16th, faxed off and served on the same day. Hounding this case again, however, and similar to the problem with GeoHotz's case, is the matter of jurisdiction.

See, Ahamad is actually based in Bosnia. We don't know if Sony intends to bring him to court in the US or if they'll come over to Bosnia to get his ass legally kicked. We don't know the specifics of the case yet, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for any developments on this.

its to get more hits people are bound to look into a post if it has at least 1 comment on it. this site is getting worse with each passing month, i guess the site isn't making enough money so they had to get advertisement to pay some of the bills, hence the increase of ads that auto play*listening to the orbit ad every time i refresh or go to the site. With news coming in slower than some sites people are bound to move on and this will increase the adds on the site.

I like how they comment on their own stories. For one, it opens up questions and gets the community involved, and 2nd it stops those from saying "ZOMG!1!!1! FIRST!!!!1!" which is even more annoying and immature.

Then get off the Internet. That's what it's about. They are bringing the news and getting involved with open discussions. Most of their comments are opinions or questions. It's all part of the Internet news/blogging experience and qj are certainly not the only ones.

I have to side with Techni on this one. I would'nt say immature but definitely onboxious. It's pretty much the equivalent of a BUMP which nobody likes. If the content and substance of the article isn't enough to lure a reader and get them to comment, bumping just seems like desperation, not to mention that the authors never eally add anything in the comments except for rhetorical pondering.

The more annoying thing is the two page articles followed by long comment strings. No idea why that wouldn't be paged off but the article is after a paragraph.

wow...sony have its period. this incident, though, is actually legit premise for them to sue. my question is if this psphone gets hacked, like most android devices are, will they start suing then too? even though hacking cellular phones is completely legal, this one is technically a game console as well isnt it?

which brings me to my next inquiry. do we actually own any device we purchase? seems not in my opinion. we'll see where this one leads.

You legally own and purchase the hardware, however you almost always license the software and are subject to it's terms of usage (meaning using it as-is, no modification) OR you forfeit the right to the use the software (rendering the device useless)

The guy "Lost" his iPhone 4 and it ended up in Engadget's hands where they leaked it. Steve Jobs joked about it a few times, and they unveilved the phone shortly after.

The only thing that happened is that no one is allowed to leave apple's campus with test devices anymore as with the iPhone 5.

Or create a youtube account at the library with a free email service and upload the vid from a thumb drive and then dont log into it anymore.

Theres also daily motion and various other video websites that are way looser than youtube.

I call bull.
First of all, your source has one news article on the site, which is not very trustworthy.
While the news is already available all around the internet, no-one has any irrefutable proof of this lawsuit.
(What seems to be) the the original source claims that they've received the legal papers and would be releasing them. However, it's been three days now.
And if this was actually real, I suppose Sony would've forced YouTube to take down the offending videos. As of now, they are still very much available.
Just goes to say that you can't believe everything you see, no matter how legitimate it might seem at first.

it appears to have virtual joysticks almost like 2 small touch pads which might be kinda cool. i would have to say, we've always been asking for a second joystick so basically sony gave it to us. i think that's pretty good of them. suing people for leaking products is like free advertising buzz so its a pretty dick move on sony's part to sue, however on the other side of the coin, leaks are acts of douchebaggery themselves. neither side is right, i just feel that its a bit of an overreaction in regard to sony wanting to extradite him in order to have him prosecuted.
