Sony offers free UMD, sends advert

Okay, tag this under off-topic; it really isn't big news but it's a bit entertaining. If you were watching a news program, this segment would be in with the human interest clips right before the weather report.

Anyway, a user named Kevin over at the ZogDog.com forums says that that he signed up for a promotion on Sony's PlayStation site. He was supposed to get a free UMD demo of Gangs of London. The whole thing was free so he had no worries. Well, time passed and was yet to receive anything relating to the game. Until one day, he got this cardboard cutout of a PSP with a Gangs of London ad on it.

He says that the sides also open up where it says "pull" and features more ad material for the game. He's still waiting for the free UMD. He does add though that even if he's waiting for the free UMD he's entitled to, he's not really eager about Gangs of London since the reviews for the game has sort of curbed the game's appeal.

If he really wanted a copy of the game for free, he could try looking for torrents of it or something. But we here at QJ suggest you don't do that. Sony doesn't like that. If you feel confident that you have more resources than Lik-Sang, sure why not, but we still suggest you be cautious lawful.

We guess in this case, there was either a mistake during shipment, or the delivery dude had itchy fingers. Anyway, now that Sony has his mailing info, we wonder if he'll be receiving more advertisements in the near future?

I had been a member at the sony forum for years (not active though). When I saw the article about the free Gangs of London UMD, I finally filled in my address info for my account. A few weeks later, I got my demo UMD. A day or 2 ago, my advert came in the mail as well. It actually is pretty cool as far as ads go.

I got the Gangs of London demo a couple months after I signed up to receive it. I thought it would never come after hearing that a lot of people in various forums got it already. I think East Coasters got it last, because it shipped from California, and I got the Killzone demo before the GoL demo.

Got both the Killzone demo and the Gangs of London Demo :) Took about a month after signing up for the GOL demo to come though.

As soon as QJ announced it I signed up for it and rec'd it a few weeks later. I guess I missed out on Killzone. Would have loved to try that one out.

I haven't even played the GoL demo since I heard it wasn't up to par and you need to have the latest FW to play it.

I received a World Tour Soccer '06 demo in the summer, then the Gangs of London demo a month or so ago, then a Killzone demo, and this week I received that sliding Gang of London advertisement thing. So either he didn't give a proper mailing address, or he's just not as cool as us...

Me and my bud next door signed up when it first was advetised and we got ours in like 3 weeks ago.

The game sucks anyweays, but we both got our demos in weeks ago...this is like, old news lol.

I got me demo in the midwest a month or two after I signed up. The game blows IMO anyhow... glad I got the free demo and didn't waste the $ on the game.
