The speculations never end. Even after Sony has officially unveiled their new PSP model, the NGP, it's still wrapped around with controversies. What everyone's wondering about now, of course, is just how much it will cost.
It's a fact that Sony most probably sealed the fate of the PSP Go to failure with the launch price they gave it. The launch of the PS3 was patchy too, largely thanks to the blinding amount of ka-chings it required. Are they going to make a repeat of that history?

So says Sony, that won't be the case this time around. Talking to tech news sites earlier, the company, through SCE president Shuhei Yoshida, made it known that they have learned their lesson from that past experience. It wasn't the easiest way to learn, it yes, but the important thing is that they did.

What they see as a acceptable price range may not be acceptable for us.

And now that gaming devices have to be made to out-do the standard iPhone or Droid, the prices of them are bound to skyrocket. Until the hardware inside them is surpassed by phones, the price is going to be way too high to do
The true selling point for me is if my friends can afford it. I don't much see the worth if there will be no friends to play with, either over wifi, lan, or 3g. And if Sony doesn't let this one flop like they've been getting into the habit of doing.

Don't screw this up Sony, NGP's a beast in hardware and software.
Now it's up to you to make it a success or a fail, Sony.

The original PSP launched at $249, and back then people complained about the price. With all the tech included in the NGP, do not be surprised when Sony tells you that you have to pay anywhere from $349-$399 for the 3G-less version, and at least $50 more for the 3G version. Also be prepared to pay home console prices for some games.

Not only is that prediction insane, but sony really would have to be insane to charge that much.
