Sony making L/R button controlled games for PSP Go? |
Ó

A Sony representative seems to have dropped a hint that the company is working on some games controllable using only the L and R shoulder buttons for the PSP Go.
When asked by Joystiq about the possibilities of gaming with the PSP Go closed, the rep responded that while they haven't announced anything yet, "users will be able to play those games with the PSP Go in closed mode."
Another LocoRoco perhaps? But that game also made use of the face buttons. Then again, having to slide the Go open to play a game isn't really all that hard.

instead of wasting time on this, why not have just admit the iphone and itouch were innovative, the people responded to the touchscreen, and made the psp2 already. We are tired of wating. Sony can easily make 'the' greatest handheld device ever. Making it like a ps2 portable with 2 sticks and like an iphone at the same time. Such a device would blow all competition out of the water. Maybe it is to soon but within the next 4years something similar will occur.
I wouldn't have minded a touchscreen on this thing. It sure as hell would better justify the price point.
@xCHRISx --you are lame !! I don't think most people will be able to afford the kind of device you are talking about.....and suppose if sony made a device like that and when you see the price, i bet you'll be the first one to flame about the price range. So get over it....PSP has good games and can be affordable by most of us.
The freakin new Iphone 3GS costs less then the PSP Go so there is no reason for the PSP Go to be so overpriced
Sony is just cashing in on a new psp cause they are struggling to stay afloat otherwise. They have already unfortunately stated that the psp is a 10 year product.
@GLO13AL_T3RROR the ps3 is overpriced, and people still buy it. I wish there would have been a psp2 released instead of this excuse to wash everyones wallets clean out of money. Between this and the DSi, it's sad that so much potential is wasted on the has been products of yesteryear.
@Gaby_64 it is only cheap with a new service contract which in the long run says you will spend well over $2000 on service with AT&T, which I personally would ever REFUSE to do. AND if you buy one WITHOUT the contract it will still run you $599 I don't know if I would, or could call that cheaper.
If spending $250 is going to "wash everyones wallets clean out of money" then you definitely have better things to be spending your money on and need to have some better priorities.
Even with a more powerful processor and 2x the RAM, the iPhone is still missing something.... buttons. Without tangible controls, you just can't do certain games. They'll get better, but people always seem to forget that the iPhone is a phone before it is a gaming console. I own an iPhone and think its a wonderful piece of technology... oooo shiny mmmmm. Anyway, I just can't game on it for hours like I can a PSP or a console for that matter. Maybe once they start to produce more of the iPhone 3G S games the visuals will be enough to forget about the crappy controls and finger smudges all over. I have sweaty hands and nothing can change that. I just don't want to touch my screen all the time.
@Gaby_64 --You are wrong!! The Iphone 3GS is $199 with 3 yrs contract and without the contract its gonna be about $600+
Uhhh, I seem to remember an article around February where you guys (QJ) mentioned Sony having a survey and asking what users thought about games that only used the shoulder buttons. This was speculated by you guys months ago and you guys hinted at the same loco roco possibility. I say, Arkanoid! LOL
I think this should be more of a confirmation than another article speculating...
Yea I'm tired of the psp it was great but sony sucks at giving back to gamers. My money is on a xbox portable maybe microsoft can do what sony had the chance to do.
Go away Microsoft fanboy
I was hoping that the psp go would be cracked quick so a plugin would be made for this capability, but if sony is going to go ahead and do it then more power to them. I would make a simplified xmb that could be accesed from closed mode that just does pics, movies, music, and games, none of the other stuff.. heres for hoping. And if sony wants to be inovative, they should add a gps in the psp2 with the second analog not a touch screen...i can see it now...pac man where you run around your backyard! awsome...
lol at gaby_64!! iphone 3gs is about 700 euros without a contract, was annouced recently that price.
The kind of device he's talking about? Hell, I can't afford the kind of device that they're already putting out... $249 for the same PSP, that just opens and closes with bluetooth added? My prepaid phone has bluetooth and it was only $20, and that's for the WHOLE DAMN PHONE! The replacement of the UMD with flash memory alone should be enough to make up for the price of the addition of bluetooth.
