Sony Custom Theme Converter v1.4 |
Ó
PSP Firmware 5.0 is out and ready for your enjoyment, have you heard? If not, then you've got quite a bit of catching up to do because the releases just keep coming. Yep, apart from the official firmware update, Sony's also just released the Custom Theme Converter v1.4. Unfortunately, we've checked out the PlayStation US site but there's no word on this said tool. So we're basically left with the Japanese site's details, which we've put in here verbatim for your own understanding:
System software version 5.00 or higher will be applied in the PSP ® to create a theme and the theme of creating version 1.4.0.0 please use the tool.
Version 1.2.0.0 and later created a theme of the tools, system software version 3.80 is less than the PSP ® can not be displayed.
We'll be sure to keep you updated as more details roll in about this release.
Thanks to akadewboy for the tip!

Sweet, can't wait to try it out.
I'm really surprised by Sony who always seems to want to be on the forefront of today's technologies. However, they can never keep their [PSP] software on par with that mindset. The Theme Creator that Sony had developed in the past was geared towards the Windows user. There are many PSP users out there that use the Mac. For years now people have been able to write cross-platform code, so it shouldn't be that difficult for a huge company like Sony, but alas, they seem to think that 100% of the PSP owners out there use Windows.
I was hoping that with the new version 5.0 firmware that they would probably release cross-platform tools, but by looking at this file, it seems that Sony fails once again.
I feel sad for Sony.
100% of people (besides for the people that don't know how to turn their computer on) should use Windows.
Don't Whine, use Wine.
That's alright Phosphor, Sony lost out a long time ago by not making their Net Minidisc software work on a Mac. I was all set to buy one until I read that technicality. So I bought an iPod and never went back :) then the iPod halo effect spread and everyone around me picked one up. Funny how that happens from nothing!
And I'd rather not employ an army of computer technicians so I kitted my studio out with Macs. At my college the PC building (English, maths, library etc) had a room dedicated to fixing PC's and employed 10 technicians. Our mac building (design, photography, programming) only needed 1 technician :) just as I do now.
probly cos the mac is a semi useless fashion accessory for pretentious preening poseurs, only capable of doing half the things a pc does, therefore the computers are seeing less variety of use in terms of software and users , requiring less maintenance. compare apple and oranges? may as well compare monkey nads and tesla coils.
Macintosh computers make up a small percentage of computer users and an even smaller one in Japan then in the US, so it should be no wonder that Sony (a Japanese company) doesn't support them or Linux.
Maybe they looked at the cost for the support and didn't bother, but my bet is it just hasn't occurred to them and since it has yet to be (officially) released in regions outside of Japan should add some credence to this thought.
