This writer happens to be a big fan of games that involve racing to the finish line, or in Sonic Rivals' case, scrambling to reach the end of a level. So, it's pretty obvious what this writer has to say about the game. But ultimately, the decision to buy would depend on whether you still think that the Blue Blur can give you hours of fun running around in circles, getting those rings, and showing Knuckles who's the speed demon.

Still, I should review it anytime soon. The game has this oldschool charm and is ton of fun.

The guy playing the game sucks lol.
was a major letdown to me (being a die-hard sonic fan). The speed mechanics were so f**ked in this game(he actually slows down when you roll! WTF?!) and the ability for the enemy to catch up to you in a split second when you blow them in the dust for a good 25-sec lead is simply stupid. whoever thought up the storyline was also high on elmer's glue. It doesn't even compare to it's Sega Genesis siblings.

what happend to the good platform style?? the racing is jus lame.. not fun at all... too many damn logs to jump over and loops..
When sonic rolls he isn't using his feet so he can't run faster. Instead he gradually slows down. It's been like this in many sonic games. It's comon sense dude. The only time Rolling gives you speed is when you do when you aren't moving.
You can see this in the cheezy dialogue and voice-overs.
Oh, yeah, and it's always gotta be about eggman.
Never anything new in the sonic series.

You're a bit right about Sonic. And you are totally right about PSO. Do you play the PC Version? Used to play the DC Version a lot. Have to get my Network adapter running again.

Men this game sucks, i hate racing style what hapened to the plataforms style? Men Sonic Rush for DS it's better then this because i'ts like the Mega Drive games
nah , the rolls are messed up. u can get caught in a slow roll. plus u can hardly even see whats coming up ahead of you and what that guy said is true...youll go thorugh a bit where youve been playing really well but the rival catches up anyway. game sucks... but its good to look at . id have preffered a 2d sonic to this rubbish , sega shoulda just updated sonic like nintendo did for the ds. dumbassess try to make things seem cool when people are after gameplay.
this is one of the best sonic games i have played and i have played every single one this is almost the same as classic sonic but with a 3d twist and with a rival it makes you wanna go even faster sure it is short but there are new characters and outfits you can unlock for each character!!!
i seem to remember a 2 player mode in sonic 2 that was EXACTLY what this game is, you race against the other player to get the the end first. its the same exact thing!
