Silent Hills Origins PSP crippled by Climax woes?

silent hill originsYesterday we featured something about Climax Studio's "restructuring operations" to control the production process better and bring new blood into the company. For those of you who said "So what does that have to do with me?" this rumor may answer that question.

According to Kotaku insider information the "restructuring operations" is a nice way of spinning the company's "attempt to salvage the disastrous development of Silent Hill Origins for the PSP and keep it under Climax's umbrella."

Furthermore, Kotaku's mole claims the company made a big pile of management doo-doo that caused a major delay in the Silent Hill Origins engine development.

So what does that have to do with you? The game, according to the rumor, had been cut extensively to meet its deadline. The final product, which was planned as a robust PSP game that would take eight hours to complete, will feature a handful of smaller levels worth three to four hours of gameplay.

But this came off the netvine where the buzz sometimes end up as entirely true, completely false, or half-true, half-false. We'll keep you posted as soon as more verifiable details come our way.

re

lol told ya so pirates. This was posted just after I was done replying to that other thread mentioning another possibly canned game cause of piracy and failure of the psp.

...

The PSP isn't a failure... Of course, you could also read that this is a rumor, so may have as much truth to it as most rumors do... Pirates are the scum of earth though, and need to stop downloading games. I hear them all say "there aren't enough good games," but if they are good enough to download and throw onto their psps, they are good enough to buy. I can't keep up with all of the good games on the psp, so I don't know why people says it has poor games. Twenty games I own, and another 10-15 I am planning on buying :)
by - 2006-10-23 15:20:12
re

there should be a requierment for every game you download you have to buy one.
by - 2006-10-23 15:48:02
.

I just hope it doesn't get cancelled. Really looking forward to this game.

PSP's bad luck

Poor Portable S h ! t Station. This console has the worst luck i have ever seen. As if being made by a company which is notorious for making the stupidest business decisions (firmwares, Blue-Ray, UMD etc.) was not bad enough now it even has to deal with fickle developers. I'd have given up on this POS if not for piracy.
by - 2006-10-23 16:01:52
My Opinion-

In my opinion this just might suck...
by - 2006-10-23 16:06:41
alright dumass....

Screw your anti-piracy tirade. What is your guarantee that those who are "pirating" were actually going to spend thier money on this if piracy was not possible? Another thing dimwit, those who have the brains to pirate, most of them also have the brains to save thier money for better more rewarding things in life than sub-standard overly expensive videogames. So shut up!
by - 2006-10-23 17:22:59

i just got into my mail yahoo of course and totally forgot i mailed sony a while ago (among a couple more companies). well i tried to ask them their intensions with te h-b crowd but of course just got blew off with some if u send us a product we will rip it off ande u cant do squat letter. sheesh ive never felt this blown off starting to understand how hugh hefner feels ;>. well thisw syustem is going to hell with problems if it wasnt for h-b it probly would be collecting dust in my closet. piracy is *****ed true but that doesnt stop me from having a small clip off possible games i might by in the future.
by - 2006-10-23 17:25:09
don't blame psp for this game... the studio who is making origins has a track record for bad games.

Climax makes pretty bad games so this is the fault of konami handing the game to some loser devs.
by potat4o - 2006-10-23 17:34:49
wow Aree

Chill out dude . . . just chill
by - 2006-10-23 17:47:22
you're misinformed

psp's fall/winter lineup is awesome this year. It sounds like you wasted 250 dollars on homebrew when other handhelds do it better for cheaper.
by - 2006-10-23 19:27:08
Totall *****inesss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As if you have one loser,The DS in NDS stand for Dip sh1t. I dont know where all these losers are coming from. Sudenly Having a DS is the international simbol of "Loser"
by - 2006-10-23 19:32:51
Thanks a lot Lagsaber

Your f***ing spamming about this bring a lot of NDS losers that doesnt have anything else to do since its cracks on their poorly builded handhelds just take over. Well, why they didnt ask to the original studio that made SH3 make this one?. Crap i hate budget titles. For the record Strangler and Aree are married. They are a happy gay couple that dedicate 24/4 to flame the PSP with obvious old stuff no one really cares. This rumor is going to get all ds users horny on gamespot forums,"PSP is teh failure" and all that Sh1t. Try to dont wet your pants Dip sh1t losars,is just a rumor.

Stop

"If this keeps going". Just happened once, and is just a rumor. Jesus Christ, everytime a PSP bad new becomes public even inside this channels,Fanboys are here to flame and call for failure. Wow is just a rumor,PSP is ok.It got like 5 Great titles this month.(Compared to the DS that got nothing) We dont know maybe its going to turn into one of those games like half life 2 that comes on Episodes. Origins 1 + 2,and it could be,silent hill has preety long story. Also Silent hill games last 4 hours but it can take you a whole week the first time. Also i dont bet Ds is going to be remembered Its emulator will only have like 5 games.
by Sr_Moska - 2006-10-23 20:22:06
Now I'm affraid

I was looking fowar to get this game but now it sounds like *****
by - 2006-10-23 23:33:06
I knew it!!!

Damn pirates! After I read the above I can think of nothing but those damn pirates! They totally killed the game. I bet you that management caused the engine delay must be a damn pirate for he must have pirated the engine. Told ya that keep pirating game engines will kill the game and eventually kill the PSP!!!! Damn pirates caused those impossible deadlines too!!! +P +P +P
by - 2006-10-24 00:53:10
Umm

What do pirates have to do with this?
by - 2006-10-24 01:02:39
Sorry

So you're saying that according to rumor, silent hill is going to be crap. All I read here is 'according to the mole' and 'the mole said' blah blah blah.... Has anyone stopped to think that this mole may be an laid off employee? Maybe he wants people to think the game will be s*it because hes p*ssed hes been sacked? I don't know, I'm going to make my mind up when the game comes out. I'm an avid ps3 news reader and have to read all kinds of cr@p like this all the time, some tru but most of it as false as pamela andersons assets... As for those 'piracy destroyed the PSP!!' statments, open your eyes idiot. The psp isn't dead, nor has it failed. I you owned a big enough memory card or a 1.50/2.71 you'd probably be pirating aswell. And don't tell me you've never pirated ANYTHING in your entire life. I'd be inclined to LMFAO becuase you'd be lieing...

WRONG AGAIN MORON!

Guess what? In a lot of companies out there, boneheads run the show. It happens a lot more than you'd think. This is just a case of a company's leadership running it into the ground. It happens everyday, and has absolutely zero to do with the success of the PSP. You are f*cking retarded to think anything otherwise.

random *****ing

Quote - "....for making the stupidest business decisions (firmwares, Blue-Ray, UMD etc.)" well actually they are very good business decisions. 1. Firmware updates are great it allows teh company to constantly updat and "attempt" to combat piracy 2. UMD's - the same as mini disks before them - were exceptional ideas, that although didnt take off, made them more money than they spent. 3. blu-ray is the future, my good friend. the only thing that comes close is the crystal thing (look it up) but thats way way off also many market analysts agree that consoles will decided the next gen DVD battle. and everything points to blue ray. the ps3 will be massive - and comes with blu-ray. and although seems expensive to gamers - to high tech fans, it is a very cheap alternative to a blue ray drive. and the fact that it can hold over 5X the amount of data the hd-dvd can (read up on that also) and plus, just to add the final blow. its main "competitor" (ha) is the 360 which doesnt even come with a hd-dvd drive! can we say "xbox in a new case?" i think we can and 4. read read read (and you will learn)

it was on the cards

the screenshots failed to impress anyhow. silent hill origins sounds better of burried. if they finish it off, it will be an embarrisment for both the psp and konami. silent hill does not need any more negative press after the failure of silent hill 4 the room on the ps2.

Posted an email to the HQ of Climax

Posted an email direct to the Climax HQ to find out more about the Silent Hill situation. Lou Fawcett wrote: "I shall be out of the office until Friday 20th October climbing Kilimanjaro on behalf of Climax and the ESC without access to email and shall respond to you upon my return." You would have thought that at a time of crisis, mountain climbing would be last on the list of things to do.

4 weeks to fix the *****

Been speaking to an insider. The production of Silent Hill Origins has been shifted from the US to the UK. Over the next 4 weeks company behind SHO for the PSP are to assess the situation and submit their findings to Konami who will take the decision to can or continue with the project.

SH PSP is a bad idea in the first place

Looks like they may have finally realized what everyone else has - SH PSP is a bad idea in the first place, and this "origins" game is undoubtedly destined to become the worst in the series.
