Pirates!

Hands on deck, laddies! The governor's daughter be pansy an' all that, but I've yet to flirt with her in some fra-la-la ballroom dancin' once we be washin' ashore at the docks. Fer some of ye who aren't quite familiar with Sid Meier's Pirates! for the PC, then get yer swashbuckling fake eye patch and tune into yer handhelds. Pirates! is coming to the PSP.

The game's to be released this February and while earlier's screenshots might've help tide over the wait, but maybe you're wondering about the game's features. It is, after all, a port from the PC. But the term "port" these days can be a bit misleading - and we're not even talking about the kind of port that you dock your ship into.

Most of the game's popular features are still there: voyaging through the seas, dancing with the governor's daughter, on-deck sword fights, and the storyline. Although it has cast down its sails on the whole graphics aspect to suit the PSP's system architecture, it still isn't much of a total disappointment. The game still looks fab.

What's new? 2K Games and Firaxis Games have tuned up the Treasure Hunting mode for the PSP. Now, you form your landing party and trigger a mini-game that'll have you controlling your mates as they go through traps, swamps, and hungry jaguars to follow the treasure map. As for the multiplayer aspect, it's still pretty botched up, as 1Up reports. There's still some time for them to tweak it up, but anyways, the feature allows you to connect with up to four friends for a deathmatch combat.

Keep yer eyes to the horizon and follow that compass! We be treadin' through calm seas and sailin' through blue skies. February is just around the island cove!

Wow pirates! I thought I played this game on the PC years ago. OHHH I did I love everything the PSP can do, but for GOD's SAKE CAN WE GET SOME ORIGINAL GAMES!!! But I guess we'll have to wait until SONY and other developers has remade every single game from every single console (and PC) library

>:(

To the dude asking popstation questions - just delete it and sell your PSP. The fact that you're too stupid to read what this article is about and to ask a question as stupid as that you don't deserve to be *****ing around with PSX games. And yeah, I do have 3.03 OE-A and I have FFT, FF7, and Star Ocean 2 on my PSP.

Governor's Daughter

I'm assuming the "governor's daughter" is a misinterpretation of the "captain's daughter", as it likely is. The phrase "captain's daughter" or "sleep with the captain's daughter" does not refer to an actual person; it refers to the cat o' nine tails. This is a type of whip with 9 "tails" for extra pain. This is also where "the cat's out of the bag" comes from. In conclusion, you have misused that expression in no less than two ways.

No offense of course. To clarify: if you are sent to "sleep with the captain's daughter", you are to be whipped by the captain, which will be quite painful.

Governors daughter

That's nice, but It's the GOVERNORS daughter that you dance with in the game, and try to marry eventually. No whipping involved......... unfortunately.

obviously...

you haven't played the game yet. it just so happens that it's the governor's daughter that you really dance with. nothing of the captain's. jeezus.
