Rumor: Sony to announce PSP2 on January 27th

sony2CES came and went, but there's still an entire industry waiting for Sony to make certain hardware announcements. If VG247's information is to be believed, then the time will come for all that later this month, when Sony is supposedly planning to reveal the PSP2.

 

According to the source, Sony will be holding a “business overview and strategy meeting” in Tokyo on January 27th. It's unknown what the details of this meeting will be, but only "very select" members of the press will be attending. Sources claim that Sony will be unveiling the PSP2 during the event.

 

The supposed PSP2, codenamed VITA, is expected to launch later this year, but Sony is still quite mum on the matter. At least for now.

No. It's PSP 2 vs 3DS.

Windows 7 Mobile is a mobile phone, not a portable gaming console.

Sony, please don't fail this time, like it was with the failure of PSPgo.

Then why is it selling so bad in the west even with some of the easiest piracy on any console ever? And why have people been asking for a replacement since barely a year after release? Because Sony just weren't forward thinking enough to see the rise of touch screen and motion control gaming, and that's why people still buy the NDS which is still basically unchanged after 4 revisions.

Alright. Its the portable wars all over.
Nothing totally new about the 3DS nor the PSP2. Nintendo just got itself a slice of 3D which Sony had been supporting for about a year now? And hopefully Sony has been doing its homework and listened well.

I'm definitely getting both if I can. Who cares about the iPhone now?.

What i meant by totally new was the technology. Its just a DS with 3D capabilities, a nub and a much much better graphics processor..

i agree the only reason i dont want to get the zeus z1 (psp phone) , and most likely wont get the psp 2 till after a year of its re4lease is because of the PRICE possibly $300-400 IMO seeing as nintendo is selling their 3ds at (an assuming price) 300$ sony being stubborn will sell for much more, if they want to outsell the 3ds or any new handheld gaming device they Better have lower MUCH lower prices unlike the over priced go, OR AN AMAZING LIBRARY some good final fantasy's (highly unlikely but a ff7 remake) any good rpg would do for me =)

This doesn't mean the public will get to know it. If anything, they'll hold the conference, tell them to not say shit for like a month or so then a week or so we'll get leaks.

So, if anything, we wont hear anything about this until mid feb, counting that this "Tokyo Conference" is true.
