With barely five days left until GamesCom, Sony has apparently been slapped with another major leak today as news broke about the price of PSP games for the rumored PSN App Store. According to Pocket Gamer, the upcoming PSP games will be priced at 1, 2 and 5 euros (US$ 1.43, US$ 4.28 and US $7.14), which is equivalent to games available in the Apple App Store.

But that's not all, according to reports, Sony has also been actively recruiting existing iPhone developers to bring existing titles to PSN:

Sony isn't taking a leaf out of Apple's book when it comes to easing the process of publishing, however. Games will continue to go through formal console-centric Technical Requirement Check (TRC) requirements, as well as a two week quality assurance testing period. Sony will also actively control the release schedule for games, although considering the current disquiet over Apple's laissez faire attitude to app approval and release, this might not be a bad thing.

Apparently

Being the operative word in this story.. we all know these 'leaks' are just how Sony gets it's news across, but it's good to see Sony's finally being realistic with it's pricing, now let's see if this common sense translates over to their console prices.

I don't think the leaks are intentional.

I think someone at Sony just can't keep their mouth shut. Microsoft doesn't seem to have that issue when announcing unannounced stuff. They need to put higher priority on security.

weelll...

lol, its not that easy, it would be very hard to find the source of the leak, no matter how good their security is

...

Nah problem is Sony just can't shake off this arrogance problem they got and for some reason they just don't like giving all these announcements for everything, and an 'apparently' leaked announcement seems more interesting so more people will talk about it.

Here we go again...

Bring it on, whoopie another crappstore. My first app I download will be a calculator with spyro designs and maybe a suduko clone. Naww just kidding (sike). Look If they are going to compete like that they need to be better with no exceptions! I dont care! They want to go digital, then Sony better step it up! Theres a lot of crap in the appstore, i dont want to see none of that in the PSN, i want to bragg more than complain! WOOOOO!!!!

Pricing

Are the prices for app store like games i.e small games/mini games or are they proper titles. but i doubt it would be the latter since its like £7.99 for a old PSX game. :(

well said

this may have been the first business move by sony that seems to have made sense in years.

Game prices

They'll just categorise everything, with the new sub 100mb apps and games with the three lower prices and Psp and Ps1 games selling for about what they do now, then the prices will lower as they get old or stop selling well.

However,

They're obviously providing information about secret projects to someone who is leaking them. Its easy to keep something secret if keeping it secret is important. It becomes easy if it is your focus. That being said, maybe they are intentionally leaking the info. It just seems to me that its a waste of money to buy up all this time to announce something at a conference, only to have it announced a few days early.

So I didn't read the original source...

But an important question is "are emulators banned?"
