Rumor: Ready At Dawn's new GoW for PSP already in the works since 2008?

God of War Chains of Olympus - Image 1

Oh wow, would you look at that. Finally some PSP news that's actually not coming from John Koller! Surprise, surprise! Ha!

This one's a rumor though, probably spinning from what Koller revealed yesterday. Remember when he said that Sony's in talks with Ready At Dawn to get them back on PSP development? Some people are wondering, if RAD does go back into the PSP arena, what game would it be? Jak & Daxter, God of War, or something else?

If this rumor proves to be true, it could be none other than Kratos himself making another handheld comeback.

According to Joystiq's "trusted source," RAD really did surrender all their PSP devkits back in June, right after God of War: Chains of Olympus went gold for Japan. However, they "received new kits in late 2008 after Sony ordered up the sequel."

If so, could it be that they're well into development for the new GoW PSP game already? It could even be that this year's E3 will be graced by Kratos in, not just in the form of GoW3, but maybe also for the new GoW PSP. Heck, why not even stretch it and say that the new PSP game could possibly coincide with the PS3 game's release early next year, hmm?

Well, a new God of War for the PSP would most definitely be welcome. As would a new Grand Theft Auto too. No confirmation anywhere yet, so we'll keep tabs on this as developments come in.

I'll celebrate when it's confirmed. Very much would like it to be true and maybe to have some connectivity with GoWIII as I'll likely be getting that too.

» I'm guessing

studios are following suit with Resistance Retribution's connectivity. heck, I might pirate Retribution but I'll def by Res2 just so I can get the full experience. This way, they are actually using piracy to their advantage! Imagine how many ppl will buy the more expensive ps3 counterpart just because they have the PSP game, and vice versa! If GOW PSP and GOW3 have connectivity, I'll splooj rite now.

I'm titling this new Sony resurrection as "The Prophecy." Doesn't make sense, I know, but it gives us the opportunity to spam internet forums with this:

THE PROPHECY! THE PROPHECY!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

It's coming out at dawn! YAY!

» Nice nice.

Wow. So people should ruin one game system to help another? You have a very ironic and disgusting point of view my friend.

» hm

I don't think they'd see that as 'using piracy to their advantage'. I think they'd prefer if you actually paid for both. I'm still undecided whether or not to get Retribution. I don't like Resistance 1 and 2 much at all but Retribution seemed a bit more fun to me.

» kratos will never die

oh crap. and i hoped they would close the saga. sometimes it's better to do it, than to make endless spin-offs.

well, there is already a psp side-story. are they planning to go even farther into kratos' past?

by enigmaticdude - 2009-02-28 07:21
» great.

This time, please make it longer. If Square Enix could make perfect long games, so can you, ready at dawn. Learn from the king of RPG games.

by papajag - 2009-02-28 07:36
» ...

I hope that you're joking. Square Enix hasn't been a king of anything since their merger. RAD don't need to learn they got it.

» @Game4set

That's what they usually call a fanboy not that that's StingBlah's case.

Sony wants money and since both systems are out why not try to get money from both?

» @ papajag

NO they are kings and the proof is CC:FF VII

and if u think this game is not perfect then you dont know anything about gaming my friend

by NEOL - 2009-02-28 10:22
» about the GoW psp ver

I dont think that would happen again maybe they really working on a new psp game but it definitely wouldnt be GoW because as i remember GoW director & designer David Jaffe hated the PSP version and in some interview lol he said it was a f***up game so i dont think he would do another game for the psp system but i hope that im wrong and if anyone could correct me then im really happy to hear ur ideas

by roaddog1088 - 2009-02-28 10:39
» @ NEOL

well.... what if he doesnt? because you think a games perfect everyone has to? rpgs as a whole are pretty boring imo.... so because i like different sorts of games and dont care for ff then that means i know nothing about gaming? why dont you open your closed mind and shut your mouth...

by akadewboy - 2009-02-28 10:40
» LOL @ CC being perfect

It's good, but not perfect. The battle system could have been better. During the whole game all I did was mindless mash the X button and the enemies rarely attacked.

» @NEOL

I admit the story was good but if it wasn't for that i would have dumped that game a long time a ago. Other than Dissidia all the games they have published as of late are mediocre. Don't count the remakes for the DS because those are not new ideas.

by StingBlah - 2009-02-28 12:40
» nope

The psp is already ruined. They can salvage what is left, and use to to better the PS3. And for users who DO buy PSP games, they can double whammy them with a PS3 sale as well.

» Oh yeah...

I remember that video. I watched it on youtube.

He did say that.

by Flamesack112 - 2009-02-28 16:36
» Funny thing about Square...

They haven't made a good original game since they merged with Enix. Any of their good games have either been remakes or spin-offs.

» hmmm...

actually i wasnt talking to you and sec i hated rpg really much but when i played CCFF VII i really loved the rpg and to be spicefic it was the only rpg that i love until now third i didnt talk about what u like and what u dont beacuse i really dont care about ur opinion i was talking about the high rate the game took in the criticemeta and the other gaming site and its diffrent when u dont like a certine gender than u dont like a game than u dont think a specific game is a good game or just a waste of money, so my mind is open and i really welcome any new opinion but if u want to give any opinion then plz know what the hell u r talking about before throwing ur ideas like that

I want to know who agrees with StingBlah and hopefully you make a better argument then he does, because Damn. Horrible.

» Well I don't know

Me being ears open and listening and reading all the news about god of war 3 from the producers, developers and director all said God of War 3 is the 'last' game involving Kratos. I mean I'd love another PSP Kratos game, but seriously how would this work? Since this is just a rumor I'm not going to believe a new God of War PSP game. Sorry, It just doesn't sound feasible to me. Not to mention this would make RAD liars.

I'm hoping for a new Jak & Daxter more so then Kratos. Let him finalize his epic journey through God of War 3. Stop milking Kratos, cause quite honestly they'll kill him as a character and the epicness of the franchise. I would rather them focus on a new IP using the god of war combat system and stuff then another kratos game. Just think about a new game featuring Egyptians, and battling Anubis, Apophis and all those gods? I think that would be an exciting IP worth exploring more so then another kratos.

I would love to see a new GOW PSP Game. I loved the First Game - Chains...
