Rumor: PSP getting a price cut too?

Crisis Core PSP bundle - Image 1Get your salt shakers ready, here comes another price cut rumor. According to a major UK high street retailer, a PS3 price cut isn't the only thing that they've received word about. Apparently, a price drop for the PSP is also incoming.

Speaking to CVG, the retailer said that the price cut has "been on the cards for a while, but manufacturers are not in the habit of giving exact dates so as not to effect sales ".

Don't get your hopes up yet, though. If you'll recall, the PS3 price cut rumor was defused when a new 80GB PS3 bundle was spotted. Sony may well come up with a new bundle for the PSP in lieu of a price cut too.

A psp price cut may actually be possible. With the software lineup announced for this year, it could help sony's game division churn up some profit. Besides, its not like anyone I have seen has actually asked sony about this recently, everyone is too damn busy asking about a PSP4000 or PSP2.

Another thing I wouldn't be completely surprised to see in the long term would be a PSP/PS3 bundle pack.

. . . . before he blows it on cocaine and strippers! Seriously sony, your consoles are to expensive; it is definitely time for a price cut. With the deepening economic crisis people are more likely to go for cheap thrills *coughs*wii*cou ghs* than to actually buy something awesome.

During a recession, people don't get careless with their money. They will do more research, and carefully spend what money they do have. For some people, that may lead them to buy a wii, but if people want their entertainment dollar to last as a smart investment, they will save the extra $150 and buy a PS3. The games are better, longer, and offer more replay value. $150 price difference for the value you are getting is NOT SUBSTANTIAL at all when you compare features. Bluray, 80gb hd, wi-fi, bluetooth connectivity, and being able to respect yourself, all for only $150? Thats a damn bargain.

Guess anything is possible for PSP, and kinda makes sense with the amount of games coming out this year for it. Maybe making a slight cut. :)
