Gamefly (image from siliconera.com) - Image 1Word has it that Mastiff is in the process of bringing a new tactical RPG to the PlayStation Portable. The game listing was spotted on Gamefly, but there's hardly any details on this rumored game. A quick review of the Mastiff website also doesn't mention anything about it.

NIS already has an American arm, so it's unlikely that Mastiff will be publishing a game from them again. Siliconera mentions Vantage Master Portable as a possibility since Mastiff already worked with Nihon Falcom for Gurumin's US release.

Another possibility is that the game is a brand-new IP. New IP or not, though, a new tactics game is a new tactics game, and I would gladly forgo several days' worth of food for some tactical RPG goodness. Another thing to look forward to this year, provided the rumor turns out to be true.

Another Tactical RPG?

Yay. Sort of. :/

I'd personally like to see more Action RPG's.

food and sleep is totally optional and often forgone for having tactical RPG goodness (did it for jeanne and FFT)

» yep

I would actually welcome more tactically based strategy games on the platform to be honest. We've had very few good tactical strategy games (especially turn based) on the PSP worthy of attention.

Generally speaking, if you want decent games you usually have to play old school stuff through emulation.

But if you want a decent Action RPG on your PSP, just get the PSx version of Diablo which kicks the crap out of pretty much all the 'commercial' PSP offerings in this niche anyway.
