Rumor: Imagination Technologies working on graphics processor for new PSP? |
Ó

There's nothing official yet, but word has it that Sony has enlisted the help of Imagination Technologies Group, a graphics processor core company, to work on another refresh for the PlayStation Portable.
This rumor comes after Imagination's announcement earlier this week that they've signed a license agreement with an unnamed major consumer electronics company. EETimes.com reports that some sources have pegged the unnamed company as Sony.
If Imagination and Sony really are working together, the former's contribution is expected to come in the form of their new SGX55x graphics core. Now I'm not really familiar with these cores, but a PSP with even better graphics definitely sounds good. Throw in an extra analog nub, Sony, and you've already got one customer right here.

sounds like a whole lot of speculation to me, but I like it anyway. If they're upgrading the graphics this is almost definitely for a PSP2 (obviously). Bring it on, but make some better games this time :)
yea anyways this sounds real sweet
PSPs games are awesome. Some of the best I've ever played. It's DS that has horrible games
They both have the same number of good games it's just that the DS just has more horrible ones.
only rumor that i seriously hope comes true. an improved graphics processor...... = 100% SYNC N64 EMULATOR WITH SOUND = ZELDA:OOT = GRAPHICALLY SEXY GAMES = PSPORNABLE = POSSIBLY LARGER UMD SPACE = POSSIBLE PSP2 = POSSIBLE DUAL ANALOG = INFINITE POSSIBILITES!!!!!
i vote that sony use nvidia or ati graphics for the next psp iteration. nvidia or intel for the cpu. i would pretty much want my next psp to run windows xp or vista. the design of the Xperia mobile phone is perfect just give it a larger screen and the dual shock 3 capabilities including the buttons and sticks of course. forget the umd, package em games on a microSD or similar.
ya, IF its hackable, THEN the we got all the N64 we want!
A better processor doesn't necessarily mean N64 will go faster, as a matter of fact- the N64 doesn't really have speed issues, its more coding/graphical errors than anything else, of Texel1 implementation is done for DaedalusX64, and if we get some small optimizations done, then we won't need wait for a PSP2 to come out, just be patient, as we're making EXTREME progress. Sit tight Qj.net community...sit tight....
think about this if its for the psp2 (another rumor it will be able to play ps2 games) if dark alex hacks it along with the other hackers out there (praise them if they do) then our ability will skyrocket not to mention psp1 might die
