It's not just the body that had a major makeover. The PSP2's interface has also been revamped, to make its makeover complete. As to whether or not it's an improved version, it's up to you to decide.

One of the more striking changes you'll notice when you fire up the new PSP2 is that Sony has revamped the interface design completely. No longer will you see the classic XMB, which requires you to move row to row, up and down, just to make your selection for.

XMB but not big deal if they throw in themes :) What I would like to know is the specs on the camera :)

I don't mind it, but the orbs are a strange UI design. They're unorganized at best compared to the XMB, and seems toy-ish and amateurish in the light of the PSP2, which is a piece of powerful technology.

I don't really like this kind of Android, it looks childish. I'd prefer a XMB where you can change to Android if you want to.

I think this is a totally different UI compared to old psp, it suits the look and power of NGP. I'll go for this one..

anyone notice the three dots on the left? I'm assuming you can scroll through multiple screens.

Yes,
I suggest to watch it in motion to truly judge it.

I hope Skype will be built-in. I'm excited at the possibilities. I hope they all materialize. And I hope Apple comes up with a dual analog controller accessory for the iPhone at some point too.

They have, but right now all I've seen it for is the iPad.

a lot of people are saying XMB, I'm suprised... well not really... (seems gamers now a days are afraid of change...), I like the XMB to, but I can see why Sony has changed to this interface, it has a touch screen the current XMB would not be practical as a touch interface (it can if they work on it though...), sure its great for a controller, but not for touchscreen, all Sony really needs to do is exactly what they're doing with the PSP and PS3, allow user generated themes to be applied to the interface or of course provide free and sell premium themes, and the interface won't look as... basic as that, I welcome the change!

we are not scared of a change the xmb was more organized and easier to navigate with a controller.

did you even read my comment? I already mentioned that the XMB was great for a controller but not for a touch interface, thoroughly read a comment before you reply my friend, and also gamers not scared of change? I beg to differ, inFamous 2, DMC, and Sonic 4 (the latter being that sonic was too skinny...), yeah I think (at least in the good ol' internet) gamers are either afraid of change or just hate it.

Guys haven't you read anything for the key notes. They said its going to run android. So i'm guessing your going to use android and then run a special launcher which readers the top of SD Cards. Also they said it has 3G and a touch screen

yeah, sure this interface is more touch friendly, bur generally it looks very messy. with xmb its kind of impossible to get lost on, if you pick up a psp you kind of already know how to use it. this interface kind of reminds me of xbox 360 dashboard. sure it looks kinda cool... but i get lost in it almost instantly :/

the xmb was a much cleaner design.

with the size, OS, and touch screen. It should be called the PSP tablet. ;-)

Knowing Sony there should be an option under the "THEMES" menu to revert it back to a more "classic"/PSP/PS3 XMB-like interface...at least I HOPE TO GOD so! I AM NOT A FAN OF THIS INTERFACE PERIOD! And I LOVE SONY products...so don't think I'm hatin'.
That was the beauty of the XMB: its simplicity. I'd rather flick my finger to navigate the XMB rather than this bubble icon crap!
I just thought: what if what we're looking at here is a sort of "desktop" style theme with icons...and I can't help but wonder what they've got in mind with that back-side Touch Pad!!! I got a big boner for this! Can't wait! This 'd be a great opportunity for Geohots to get revenge on Sony for the restraining order...crack this baby quick please!

The UI reminds me of the PS1.
So to me this is not "NEW!" but actually "old"

I disapprove of this UI

# should add battery %royalxtc 2011-01-30 14:47
one big tweak they added to the iphone/itouch/ipad was the battery % next to the battery bar, this is great little add on. All new devices should have this, including the NGP. I know it's a small thing but it can really come in handy at times, believe me!
