Zack has dropped by our forums to update his latest project, Mario Fusion, a new take to the old NES classic platformer that wee all grown up to love.

Developer's note:

Mario Fusion is a tribute to the Mario franchise that we all know and love. The game features most of the features you would expect to see in a mario game, with breakable blocks, animated tiles, mushrooms, coins, goombas, flowers & shells. The game features 5 Levels including a showdown with your evil nemesis bowser!

The game is fun & challenging and I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did creating it. Please read the credits screen in game for a full list of people who helped me make this game possible.

Game is programmed in C using the GU. It is also multiplatform, currently supported platforms are : PSP, Windows, Mac OSX & Linux.

Changelog:

  • Re-wrote tile animation function
    • FPS never drops below 60fps now
    • Fixed enemy's appearing below the ground bug

Just a random Q, but why is it the download file WITH music is over an entire MB SMALLER than the one WITHOUT music? Other than that small nag, GREAT game!!!

What did you expect ? 6.4 GB ? Textures and backgrounds are looped and so is the audio track - probably a MIDI file.

Also, the original Super Mario Bros. NES dump is about 40 KB large. Pretty sure I have readme files larger than that. LOL 1985... The good days. The Back to the Future days.

You missed it dude... the one with audio is smaller than the one without it -__- please read or look your response over before posting.

Sorry. I thought you meant the other way around.

EBOOT files can be compressed just like PSX games so it could be the compression. MIDI files are very small in comparison to MP3 or WAV.

Wow looks great! I am not doggin your work at all, but every Mario clone I see always seems to run a bit laggy, why is that?

We have all the tools to make it look great but it lacks the fluidity of the original.

Great work BTW
