The JPCSP Team has released the latest build of their their Java-based PlayStation Portable emulator for Windows, JPCSP. The latest revision includes more fixes, code cleanups and minor other enhancements.

Changelog:

  • JPCSP v0.6 r1832:
    • Several fixes for the MediaEngine:
    • hopefully fixed the timestamp problem introduced in r1828.
    • Implemented in-memory PacketChannel (tmp/ME.tmp is no longer created).
    • Code clean-up (avoid deprecated functions).
    • Small optimizations
  • JPCSP v0.6 r183:
    • Fixed more warnings:
    • Missing @Override
    • Statement unnecessarily nested within else clause. The corresponding then clause does not complete normally
  • JPCSP v0.6 r183:
    • 2 small test programs I've used
    • JPCSP v0.6 r1829
    • Removed all Java warnings :). No functionality change.
  • JPCSP v0.6 r182:
    • Improved timing accuracy of video and audio decoding. Based on tests on PSP (using JpcspConnector). Also improved timestamp handling (PTS/DTS).
    • Improved YCbCr video decoding when using JpcspConnector: decode and convert are now 2 separate steps.
    • Overall, this should improve the video/audio decoding and provide smoother rendering.

Although the project is still in beta , there are currently more than 120 games (and counting) that are already playable using JPSCP. Check out the list here.

And yet, no matter what game I try and no matter how good of a computer I'm trying it on.. I've still never gotten a SINGLE game to load. For christ's sake, give in and switch to C++ already >.> I've said it once, I'll say it again. If the effort being put into this emulator was being put into the Pcsp, we would have a FULLY FUNCTIONAL PSP EMULATOR BY NOW. >
