More brews coming your way guys as homebrew coder extraordinaire wololo and his team is back once again in the scene to release a new version of their Half Byte Loader project, the open source homebrew loader for the PSP that allows you to play homebrews on any PSP, including the PSP Go, running on firmwares up to 6.20.

Changelog:

  • Improved Compatibility For Static ELF Loading (thanks JJS!)
  • Fixed issue 269 (Doom crash on exit)
  • Added override_sceCtrlPeekBufferPositive as a parameter to hbl_config..txt. When set to 0, speed in some Emulators such as daedalus should work faster, but this increases the risks of crashes (a lot). Honestly I’ve never seen this feature work on a psp go, so don’t expect too much. But this will allow people who want to experiment to do it without recompiling.

Developer's note:

This revision has been tested and confirmed to work with Wagic 0.12, T.O.M.E 2.3.5 (patched), CSPSP 1.56, Daedalus, Picodrive, Gpsp (kai), FCEUltra, ScummVM 1.0, Doom 1.4, and ZX81’s Stella 2600.

We are aware that some compatibility has been apparently lost in some rare cases between R85 and recent revisions. We are hard at work to get your favorite games to work with HBL!

Thanks to Cynthia for the tip!

Great news, unfortunately Homers RIN is still unstable on this build.

HBL R85 has a very high compatibility rate, but no wMenu, so it's kind of a trade off.

Y dont U learn to spell nitwit???

You should change your name to "masterboy" IMO.

I'm sure that would describe you much more accurately.

I don't care about wMenu, really...
I just care about compatibility.
So it's not a trade off for me.

I know what you mean, I was on R85 up until this Revision came out. But it is nice to not have to load Patapon every time you want to load some brew (or you don't want to use up your Pause Game Slot if you're using a GO)

Mk2's sleep awake works still, but the background is a little screwed up looking with some transparent issues still showing the HBL parts through the image. Functional at least but not so sharp to look at with all of the flickering between the 2 layers.
Please take a look at it Dev's. It is one of the Apps I miss the most on my PSPGO
since I put down the 2000.
Thank in advance if you catch this post.

Wololo,
I rely on this program daily. I have a PSP GO. It used to work but like the above poster stated, there is a graphics glitch where the screen is not clear. It just shows one layer. Now, with THIS revision, PSP Rhythm practically locks my machine up! It doesnt work at all. Im recording an album using this program to lay down my ideas. And, now it's unusable. Please help! And, take a good look at this while restoring the graphics fully to it. Thanks for this!

go to an earlier revision?

Earlier revisions make the program very hard to use because their is text missing and an important graphics layer missing. I was waiting for a newer version hoping that it would work WITH the graphics glitch fixed. Wololo, will have to look at this because I know that it is something simple for him once he sees it.

I have no clue where that graphical glitch can come from :-|
I'll try to investigate but don't expect anything soon... if all games had that issue I'd blame something on HBL's side, but so far PSP Rhythm is the first game that does this for me...

HBL is beta right now and you just have to wait cuz they are not going to fix one game. They are trying to make it work with as many Hombrews as they can

I heard this too but the version I used just showed up as corrupted data :(
