Homebrew coder biscottealacrevette has dropped by our forums to give us a heads-up on the latest version of Go!Tube, a homebrew streaming application for the PSP similar to the awesome Ultimate PSPtube but with some additional features. Notable changes of the latest release includes - added HightMemoryMod, now supports GoTube Updater repository and more.

Developer's note:

Go!Tube was originally created to replace UltimatePSPtube beacause a lot of his site doesn't work but why continue this work ? because i'm not the only dev of gotube's script (actualy yes but I hope it will change). concretely that mean GoTube include a online updater (go to the radioplayer to use it), this online player load a list of dev and they script's folder and display them to you. after that you can choose what site you want include in GoTube.

As you can see there is a new feature in gotube , the next site are now previewed in top of the screen (i know you understand why i've made that ^^) if you want remove this feature and go back to the original mode, go to the cfg.js and replace 1 by 0 in the PSP.multiView attribut

I'll probably not read your reply so if you want to know how to make your own script , i've relased the API of GoTube (some parte are same as PSPtube). if you've never used javascript don't try to do this job. and if you find any bug : request a debugging here : Issues - gotube - Project Hosting on Google Code

Changelogs:

all change are from PSPtube, not from Ultimate PSPtube

  • 1.1 added HightMemoryMod work with the "ms0:/PSP/GAME/GoTube?/" confuguration, to desactiveate HMM : delete EBOOT.PBP , rename GT into EBOOT.PBP
  • added repository support to GoTube Updater
  • added function ext(from[,to])
  • modded some char path, now in relative

Although SofiyaCat hasn't come out with an update to PSPTube, she(or he?) really provided the community with a great program which stemmed two significant renditions. Ultimate PSPTube by JK108, who has also discontinued his own PSPTube-like project, unfortunately. And GoTube by the awsome bunch from PSPGen. Oh and how could I forget Ardatan. Thanks for the high memory mod :) I hope this catches the eyes of those who are handy with Javascript, so the repository will be full of the streaming sites we all love.

I like the full v1.1 a lot. Now all we need is SofiyaCat to give up that source code so the app can be up to par with the scripts.

I was so annoyed by the flaws with Ultimate PSPTube 2.0. GoTube actually fixes all those?! My PSPTube's Youtube stopped working after Youtube's update last year.

I should make some scripts.. I took a java course last semester and received an A+.

I wish PSPtube wasn't so terribly programed... It crashes so much.

There's a lot of room for improvement now that there's an--apparently--active user working on this.

1. The use of HighMemoryMod is much less effective than Ultimate PSPTube 2.0 Compare them and you'll see--it's hard to catch up with the stream watching at normal speed with PSPTube, but it happens commonly with Go!Tube

2. New GUI: The old PSPTube style's getting old and if you put a bit of sweat into it, you could make Go!Tube look as sleek as its logo. Also, adding search options for (newest, popular, etc.) I tried some of the search tags such as !recent and !popular that worked with PSPTube but they didn't work here.

3. There are so many problems with the videos loading and streaming. For example, search "CollegeHumor" into the bar and try watching about 10 of the videos. More than half will never load (stays at 00:00/00:00 and black screen), the others will have the strange desaturated, stripy appearance and one of them will appear perfectly. I hope you can fix that soon!

Otherwise, great job! I'm very happy with this working application to watch Youtube vids, even if a lot of them don't work (seem to usually happen to searches that I'm actually interested in LOL). Thanks!

yeah these are great programs but ther is ONE MAJOR thing i hate about them. therre is 0 rewind feature. this would be even better with a rewind feature. because i hate having to replay a vid to show my friend a part that they miss and so on.

# fix: site not foundGuest 2010-01-16 18:37
It's a hack of a fix but it seems to work.

For some reasaon GoTube has an extra ".." in the path so the fix is to put site (the folder), site.js and cfg.js one folder above the GoTube directory (i.e. directly in GAME).

but really GoTube it's self needs a fix. Should be a pretty trivial one too given the source.

not working for me (newest gen) loads up ok but doesn't connect to the internet just says connecting, then obtaining ip, then loops back to connecting again, and so on until it says error in connecting, strange as it'll connect fine first time via browser or psn

-some youtube videos dont work
-needs support for at least some other sites
-needs to work with game categories
-needs rewind

im looking into the java script to see if i can help any of those problems :P especially other sites. it would be cool if i could change how you switch between sites too..

# Like He Said...Guest 2010-01-24 22:25
That's right. The program is good and all, but I would also like to see it work with Game Categories. Does the High Memory Mode need to be in a patch-like setup? Combining the two and having the patch not need to find the main application in another folder would fix this problem. Does it matter if the Standard and High Memory (fully-functional) versions are distributed separately?
