Homebrew coder DSPSP has dropped by our forums to release a new version of his CFW Installer, a handy homebrew application that easily installs M33 and GEN custom firmwares on your PSP. The latest update now inludes a sub menu and some minor bug fixes.

Why would you switch in between ?
In my opinion 3.71 M33-4 was the best cfw around. After 3.71 (3.80, 3.90, 4.01, etc), Sony "improved" the way the memory stick handled save games and at the same time fucked up ISO loading and game performance. Then the fatmsmod came out which replaced some files with files from 3.71.

5.00 M33-6 is clearly the best. That "Speed up MS access" feature is better than fatmsmod. If you don't take my word for it, Dark Alex included a benchmark plugin with 5.00 M33-6 so you can test it for yourselves.

If you want to go GEN your only option would be fatmsmod (which was initially developed for 3.80 and 3.90 M33 - not GEN). And I already told you it basically overwrites some files from 3.71 (which is frigging OLD!).

Your OTHER option would probably be that "U3R" release which I think is a bit shady... It's kinda like DirectX 10 for Windows XP or "SP3" way before the real SP3 came out. So I think I'm gonna stick to 5.00 M33-6 and hope they'll soon update EDecrypt to include the latest games.

Hi guys
have only just switched my fat PSP on for the first time in months it is on 3.40 OE-A. a) can I use this to upgrade to a better CFW and b) where do I install this app? Sorry to bother you but could not find a guide to using this or a meaningful readme.

No, it's not possible with CFW Installer v3.0. I tested it myself. It's still missing OE-series support; and I must say 3.40OE-A is my favorite. First firmware I ever had and direct 1.50 support without addons. Unfortunately all games or homebrews do not support it so in that case you should update. For example, use Despertar del Cementerio v8 first and then you can use this.

You can go back to M33 with Hellcats Recovery Flasher.

Guys currently running 5.00MMS on slim, how can I get UMD's running 5.50 to work? and PSN games to play?

does any1 else have trouble with the internet with this version.5.00M33-6 i know its not the CFW cuz i saw a slim psp not hack with same problems connecting online. is there a way to fix this internet connection problem, it conect but disconects after a minute and haves troble connecting the second time . i have to conect like 3 times to be able to surf the web or play online , some1 help if you have same probles and know how to fix this. thx in advance

That really isn't relative to this article.

The best GEN cfw I remember using was 5.50 GEN-B2, I used all cfw's made but my fave is 5.00 M33 for compatibility with homebrew.

But now, I don't care, I sticked to 6.20 due to PSN service and online gaming.

doesn't work for me. im on 5m33.6. when i try to start hellcat's app it says loading and then goes back to xmb saying game could not be started. when i try to install gend3 last msg is "now load all modules from updater" shuts down my psp, when i power on again,im still on 5m33-6. what gives? anyone care to advice a newby? thanks!

I just need to know where to put the ofw files so I don't have to download them from the internet because I already have every one of them saved on my hard drive. If anyone knows please help....thanks
