Homebrew coder bbtgp has released 6.30 IPL installer, a handy homebrew application that allows you to switch from custom firmware to the OFW 6.30 in one go with the use of a Pandora battery. As spotted by Console Spot forumer Joomla12:

"This currently only works on the 2000 v1 and v2 models. Any other PSP will brick. Install at your own risk."

Installation:

  • If you do not have a Pandora battery made, make one with DC 8.
  • Place the IPL installer on your MS.
  • Install OFW 6.30.
  • Name the 6.30 OFW update 630.pbp and place it in the IPL installer folder.
  • Run Pandora and test M33. While in M33, run the IPL installer.

Thanks to Sonamta for the tip!

And the use of this is???
Why dont you just install the OFW 6.30 as that wont brick any PSPs and does the exact same thing.

As the topic implies (says, actually)...you can switch from CFW to OFW and viceversa with just one button press (using a pandora battery), and installing the OFW only you cannot access to a CFW... 8)

say you might want to go on psn store with OFW and then play emulators on CFW.

this allows you to go back and forth from OFW to CFW. best of both worlds

btw if you bricked on a PSP2000 v1 or v2 you can fix it because you have a pandora battery and DC8 loaded on your MS

I dont think you can go from a CFW to 6.30 OFW. You would have to downgrade to an earlier OFW then update to 6.30

This completely cuts this step.

meh... I think the real use of this program is that once you get bored of the OFW you can switch back to CFW without problems. I might be wrong, though.

# booting fw from memorystickWinnfried 2010-07-05 10:04
you can have multiple firmwares on your psp with a custom IPL. I have 5.00 m33-6 in my flash0, 5.50 gen-d3 and ofw 6.20 on my memstick. the only conditions on this are pandora, magic memorystick ('only additional:' and a bit of coding skills to write a little bootmenu wich the ipl can load into or change the.).

"test M33" this option lets you boot a firmware installed with dc from a memstick witch is the same thing like i did and you can replace the contents of the decrypted firmware (folder on memstick) with any other fw. you are able to boot it from ms without flashing your psp.

ps: grammermistakes are your's i'm german...

dc8 test M33 would be great if it runs 5.00 m33-6 instead 5.00 m33-4

Let me try to explain what this is..

This is for people that have an official firmware installed on there nand for using psn and playing official non pirated games, and a custom firmware installed on there memory stick for homebrew.

Back when the slim first came out, sony made a special protection in the psp's bios or ipl, that when recovery mode was detected, initiated by a pandora battery, the psp would refuse to boot. People would need 2 batterys now, 1 for normal boot and a pandora battery for running magic memory stick apps like dc8. Dark Alex fixed this by adding a patch to the ipl in his original m33's that would allow OFW to be booted using a pandora battery. I recreated this for the newer firmwares.

I did not intend for this to go public, or i would of written proper instructions and explained what it actually did. I re-created the patch for 6.20 for someone that was using an ofw on there nand and a cfw on a memory stick. He was having to use a toggle switch on his battery to go from pandora mode to normal mode and i wrote it to make it easier for him.

phat psp's do not suffer this protection and are able to use a pandora battery to boot ofw with out a custom ipl.

The toggle switch on my battery broke out and having this flashed saved my ass on my pandorized battery on OFW

First of all~~ THANKS~~~~!!!
I have a question if you don't mind, using the 6.30IPL, i persume that it will work well with Media Go(My PS3 & previous PSP was stolen    and i bought a new psp2000 and had to live with it before i get a new ps3)?

I have some purchased games and would like to install in to the memory stick from media, but i can't extract it out(because it need me to update my PSP to 6.30) and i certainly do not want to go to OFW 6.30 because i don't want to bring 11 UMD's Around!

So after installing the games i've purchased, swithching it back to CFW, will those purchased games work on the CFW. (All this purchase game were installed and tested working on PSP CFW 5.00-m66 and work without any issues. Done this steps when my ps3 and previous psp wasn't stolen yet  )

This is an ipl installer i wrote to specifically install i a custom ipl i made for slims, its not a general purpose ipl installer. QJ just named it after the folder for some reason. Its just "6.30 Custom IPL"

im assuming thats why it doesnt support the 1000s. sometimes its good to read the comments before posting one.

@Adr!an, you can use this on 6.31 OFW. SONY only changed the PS Store interface so it will accept the same IPL without problems.

Great work bbtgp. It was a life saver since I am a subscriber to PSN Plus and wanted to use it and emulators on the same psp.
