Head's up to the PSP scene! Sony has announced that they will release a new firmware update for the PSP "soon."

According to SCEA's Eric Lempel, PSP system software update version 6.37 is a "minor update that improves system software stability during use of some features." That's all about it, short and sweet, just like the previous update.

Is the PSP go really worth it, even at $200?

I can't imagine downloading every games and being unable to transfer to another system I own.

I like hacks cause they're forcing Sony to add new features to firmwares. Saying that you made an update for just a security problem is shameful I think. :P

Sony said that PSP-go was just to test consumer expectation for the coming PSP2. Is it ethical to develop a product and use consumers like lab mouse ? I bought PSP-go right after its release expecting to play PSP games what they offered was mostly mobile phone likely PSN mini games. In Turkey Sony for 1 year didn't sell PSP-go, guess when it was in the store ? One week after the release of HEN. Its free market economy but even that must have some ethics.

When??

The last "feature" that was added was support for a music service that doesn't even exist yet.

Sony's record for adding features with new firmware is still the best of the big 3 console makers.
Over the PS3 lifetime, it has had many welcome improvements.
My first PS3 had FW 1.5 and man, was it basic. PS2 games would play with big black borders. The web browser has seen some improvements. The tropy system was a gimmick, but it's pretty cool, just late.

Lately however, sony has started doing security only updates, which is annoying.
I'm still on FW 3.15 baby! Easy Linux install and full modchip compatibility.

It's short and funny.

Why don't they admit they're trying to block piracy like Microsoft does on Xbox 360? Why not be honest about it? Geez.

Well, if you'd own an Xbox 360 you would have seen that Microsoft's team have put much effort into making their software so brilliant.

On the other hand, PS3 is suffering due to Sony's incompetence.

Like you don't use windows... I myself use linux because you can control what packages and dependencies you need, not to mention the possibilities of kernel programming. But yeah... Windows 7 is loads better than vista, and it isn't that bad. Even vista was patched numerous times to fix most of the problems. As long as you have 2-4 gb of ram, they don't really "control you". But yeah, I'm guessing you are just a sony fanboy that is full of himself because he hacked his psp ahead of these "new people". I started hacking it when the memory card switch hack came out, so... suck it up. I'd actually like to see stable signed apps for homebrew development.

When you have a concrete OS like XP as a predecessor, it's kinda tough to replicate that same success again while making major changes to it, hence all the service packs and bugs. However, 7 vastly surpasses Vista. Vista was garbage and sucked up sooo much resources even when idle. Even with the holes that the normal users wouldn't really notice, W7 is a kickass OS that'll hopefully get the SP2 update it could really use.

Seriously, you post the same rants/conspiracy theories about Microsoft all the time. It's really counterproducti ve and gets other people riled up over nothing. You really should stop, or back up your reasoning with more concrete facts/references.

Sony should give up and only go after people selling the mods. I don't see why they would put update after update, and risk bricking PSPs, due to lack of knowledge on children/parent's part.

Because that would make more chaos. Even if the guy who first uploaded the NSMB, over hundreds of thousands already pirated it, too...

There are a group percentage of fanatics besides the lot in the games that always head on for originals and trying to trigger a short moment of sensation. Two extremes where one fail to see the other. Even when another group is extremely poor and could not afford the many explorations. Less to say to have the funds to pursue the possibilities even though the user has a system and talents.

so we can still sign our own homebrew and play it off ofw. heck the snes, nes, sega, and n64 emulators i like to play still work with ofw. sony can try to stop homebrew but as long as the keys that open doors are usable there's nothing they can do about it.

Nobody who is a veteran to the scene will update to this so called "new" fw. Therefore the number of cfw users will most likely stay the same. Only the n00bs who just got a psp or still new to the scene will update. But they were never part of the scene to begin with.

Meanwhile im still happy on my 5.00 m33 and i see absolutely no reason to update to ofw or another cfw as i can play pretty much anything and everything flawlessly.

LONG LIVE THE SCENE!!! 8) FU $ONY!!! :P

not to sure about that i've been useing cfw sence OE i have cfw on my psp-2000 but i keep my pspgo! upto date. i've now got all the same homebrew i run on my psp2000 running on my pspgo! because of the current ability of signing homebrew to work on ofw. it doesn't matter anymore if sony comes out with updates. homebrew if you sign your homebrew (whether by source or with psp signing tools) will work fine no matter what fw you are on.
