As promised, the latest PSP firmware 6.31 is now live, and just as we expected, there’s not much in their to look at except for the usual"system software stability update" that Sony has been prepping a lot lately.

Changelog:

  • System software stability during use of some PSP format software titles has been improved.
    • Game
      • [By Format] has been added to the options menu for [Group Content].
      • Games can now be grouped and displayed in folders based on format under [Game].
        • To sort games by format, select a game icon, and then press the square button.

So there you go, just a lil' reminder folks, if you love your homebrew, please don't update.

Stability for them is just another word for security. Of course it was to block the recently found exploits, whether it did or not is another story.

But whenever they update like this.. it's usually some idea from the homebrew community that they felt they could add it to the latest firmware to give the people that aren't using Homebrew a similar experience. The PSP go is basically most of my fav Brews in one package. This update with out a doubt was released as a counter measure to the recent exploits. But that is just the surface, I'm sure there is more behind the scenes. Time will tell...

Personally I wish they'd give us back the percentage battery indicator; that 3-bar thing is useless. Also, enable charging when plugged into usb without having to be in usb mode.

use the dayviwer plugin or batterypercent plugin and youve got a percentage indicator, and i dunno what youre doing wrong but i can charge my slim with a usb cable without being in usb mode. i just wish USB would charge it without it being powered up

So really, only the exploit patch is new, since the other feature was added in 6.30.

The changelog is the same from last time. They added group folder support in 6.30.

It IS the same thing! Just installed it. No difference at all. Grouped menus are still the same (cycle through regular, by format, by expiry date (What?)). Worthless update.

Another update that adds something they could have added 5 years ago. It would be nice if Sony can actually spend the same amount of time and resource on new games instead.....

Another horrible update as usual, adding stupid ass things like categories instead of adding features. You have failed Sony.

how can they block an exploit if the name of the game and the way they exploited it arent released?

Everyone! Listen, it's not all bad. Some guy at another website found a bug in the web browser. Sony could have found a bug in 6.30 so to patch it they released 6.31. They may have failed spittle bit thought cause someone found a way fuck up the browser.

Why don't Sony come out with a firmware update that has, get this, eigher internet tv or a digital tv tuner? That would be f...ing awsome. Btw I still have the origional version of the PSP and still going strong, just needs new battery as I think battery life is not nearly as long as it was.

This is bullshlt and their anti piracy measures are just annoying why is it that they announce better stability but any video format that is not psp downloads from their app store do not work. this is just another way to force the user to buy and pay for their videos.
