Looks like there's still some fight left in Sony's PSP handheld. Square Enix has revealed that they're well on the road of brining Final Fantasy IV on the PSP. We've got the details and the first scans for it here.

First, on the details. FFIV will acutally be combined with FFIV The After in one UMD, which together will be called Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection. Visuals will of course be brushed up to update the visuals, as well as the addition of a new scenario to bridge the storyline of the two titles.FFIV was previously released on the WiiWare last year.

As of now, the tentative expected date of arrival for Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection is for Spring of 2011. In the meantime, we've got the first scans for it, thanks to the latest issue of V Jump.

If anything, I hope that this progresses all the way to FFVII. A remake of Cloud and co. would be absolutely amazing.

I too really want to see a FFVI remake. The story it has is so much more interesting than any other FF game I've ever played.

If it were a 3d remake I would be excited... I like 2d games, don't get me wrong, but if I wanted to play the 2d version of ffiv, I could just play it on a psx, or snes, meh... Hell, even the DS got a 3d remake...

# Why not the DS remake version?Odin 2010-12-13 12:24
Why are they sticking with the old 2d version of this and not migrating the amazing 3d DS remake over to the PSP??

This seems like a total waste.

Totally buying this! Final Fantasy IV is one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. The addition of The After means I don't have to spend close to $40 for the WiiWare version alone.

It's not $40, what. It's 800 points. How much is that in funny money? I know it's around £5 here.

800pts is the base game, you still need to pay MANY chapters inclusing the last which is also 800 pts.

good news!

I loved the DS version, but this looks to be nothing more than a regular 2D version with fancy sprites and backgrounds.

I can do without that so I'll skip this one.

FFIV is one of my fave in the series. It had the emotional drive of FFVII but in the olde-worlde setting.
Smashing game.

the ds version was TERRIBLE it took forever to do a match with all the looooong hold ups and matchs... the PSP versions of ff 1 and ff 2 were so fast, u just hold x and whiz thru battles its way better. the 3d was slow and stupid, 2d is the way to go with brushed up details , i bet they might put a extra super boss now and there too

but... weres FF III ON PSP!?!?

Not that great in my opinion. DS got a full 3d remake but i dont think they have enough time to do that. Atleast we get The after years.

How did you get The After Years on your SNES? I've been trying to insert my SNES cart into my PC's various ports all week trying to copy the files over but nothing is working.

Hopefully this leads to FF6 coming over. We really have seen nothing from that game since the PS1 re-release. But.. I will be happy to play IV again for the time being!

Woot! My second favorite FF game and nice it will include all of the WiiWare sequel as well, I hope.

Though I would love to see an improved remake like FFIII and FFIV have got for my favorite of FFVI.
