» + or - ... Pros / Cons?

Anyone give this a try? Can you tell me any "Benefits" or "Short Comings" to this over Tversity.

Thanks

BTW I would be using it on a Windows Based PC and no Linux on PS3

» temp files

I'd also like to know the pro's cons over TVersity and WMP, I keep my C: partition small, just for Windows OS and Program/ App Data files but neither of those two allow the database or temporary files to be set on a different drive/partition.

Hi!

I'm testing this software (v1.03) - 3 weeks.

After 2 days of sharing I've uninstalled all other servers ( FUPPES, TVERSITY) because it s the best server I ever saw.

I can run even HD films in 1080p on my PS3.

Fully satisfied.

No problem with connecting - working just after first run.

If somebody has connection problems - check firewall.

» another useless app

What is the use of this? WMP10 shares files/folders anyway so I cant see a use for it.

If you use Windows you dont need this. its totally useless. Maybe for Linux but this is a windows program.

» Because

This plays MKV's and Displays srt sub-titles. WMP does not display subs or play lots of files. This will encode videos on the fly. All WMP does is play vids with codecs that ps3 already plays. This allows you to watch ALL kinds of vids.

» No need for WMP

This program is superior to Windows Media Player due to it's transcoding capabilities and other features.

I like that is can also read zip and rar files meaning I can read my comic book cbz/cbrs as folders of jpgs on the PS3 without having to unpack them first.

Version 1.04 seems a bit problematic to me but 1.03 was running just fine.

Also it's kinda nice to not see Microsoft appear on my PS3 media functions

» Awesome

PS3 Media Server is far superior to TVersity in many ways as mentioned before me here in the comments.

- PMS can do transcoding on the fly of .mkv (Matroska container - search wikipedia for info) _with_ 5.1 audio + subtitles. That is not possible with TVersity unless you feed your files through mkv2vob first, which takes hours if you want subtitles.

- You can change some settings via the XMB without moving over to your computer like with TVersity.

- There is no need to scan all the files in the folders you want to share, and the shared files are automatically updated in close to realtime.

That's just what I noticed after a few minutes.

Kudos to the author of this program. I think you just stole some TVersity "customers".
