PS3 20Gb version not going being sold in the UK? |

UK high street games retailer Gamestation has put Sony's PS3 up for pre-order on their website for £424.99. Now, this may not seem very special, as it is around the price we were expecting for the P3 in the UK, after the PS3 prices were announced in Sony's E3 2006 press conference to be $500 for the 20GB version, and $600 for the 60GB version in the US.
The interesting part is that there is only one option, the 60GB version. Gamestation told Games Radar "in no uncertain terms" that it was because Sony wouldn't be releasing the slightly more wallet-friendly bundle in the UK, but weren't offered any explanation as to why the 20GB would be unavailable in the UK.
We'll have to wait for monday to see if Sony can shed some light on this in the form of a press release!

When will people realise that direct conversion DOES NOT WORK.
The price of a console in different countries does not relate to direct coversions of the price in one country compared to another. Its unique in each nation.

if you convert 600 euros to pounds sterling it's something like 400 quid. it is an obscene amount of money to spend on a console... but i'm probly going to anyway. as i will have a job i will be able to afford it! hooray.
Who would buy the 20gb version anyway? 60Gb is better for the bang for ur buck!

price here in austria is 599 for the "cheaper" version and 699 for the full version; sorry guys but thats SICK, better buy a new pc for that money...

I also live in the UK and we do get ripped of all the time. all our consoles are released late (not this time though), the prices are too high and lots of other things i wont say cause its getting too depressing.

xbox 360 sold for about same price in the uk as it did in america so why not ps3.
£425 is like us $805 what a rip off.

They have news on where you can pre-order your PS3s from. At the moment there aren't many, but hopefully they will have more (and cheaper than £425 hopefully.) See you all on November 17th when it's raining probably lol.
I would love to buy a PS3 but im starting to think ill end up heading back to nintendo. The Wii might have a rediculous controller but the games are going to be really good where as the PS3 has got great games n visuals but most are just rehashed games from the past AND £425 is FAR too much money to pay for a console. I think sony have priced themselves out of the market but only time will tell really. I think a maximum of £300 to £350 (with game) would be an okish price. But i really cant see there being that many early adopters at over £400 quid. No parent would spend that much for a present really unless it was for a special birthday. Most adults cant afford that on a luxury with bills to pay. Most late teens who have maximum disposable income couldnt afford to spend that much out in one month. No pub trips for a few months lol.
As I said, time will tell and I seriously hope im wrong.
£425? That's dangerously close to $850USD. Sony...what the hell are you thinking?
