Although Sony has yet to acknowledge the existence of the long-rumored PlayStation Phone (aka Zeus Z1), new images and videos of the Android-powered device has once again popped up online, this time, via a Chinese web site, showing off more details of the Xperia-branded phone, from its ability to switch seamlessly from a touchscreen phone to game play mode, to a mysterious app called the PlayStation Pocket.

So here's the latest buzz about the device. According to Engadget, the phone will be "powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU, along with what's likely to be a 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 as featured on the HTC Desire HD. Interestingly, Neocore is reporting an impressive 59.1fps benchmark, which is a huge improvement from our exclusive look back in early December. Quadrant also reports a high score of 1,733, but hey, there's no saying that this is the final build, so the graphics performance may get even better."

I'm not all that convinced - we've seen other gaming phones that have fallen by the wayside, and as much as I love my PSP, it's not generally hailed as a success in the West - it really seems to be held up by the Eastern software developers and a bouyant home market.

Given Sony's generally fickle relationship with its own innovative hardware (remember the Clie series? or the Rolly?) I wouldn't want to invest in a 2 year contract for it just yet.

Love to be proven wrong though :)

Lets just hope the security will be the same as current PSPs so we can CFW it easily. :)

it runs android so it is going to be an app that runs in android so there is a psp emulator that will run on android.

looks pretty sad. maybe that would have been good 2 years ago. But the competition has much more to offer than this.

Err... Adreno 205? My Sammy Galaxy S can beat that!!! C'mon Sony, at least put a Tegra 2 in that PSP Phone!!!
