Oblivion for the PSP - Image 1

Not really news, but if this buzz hits the grapevine later on, at least you know how it started. The story is that when gaming news site CVG contacted Ubisoft for updates on the announced PSP version of Oblivion, the Ubisoft spokesperson noted "no comment." This, of course, caused CVG to go as far as to speculate that the PSP version of the game has "been put quietly on hold."

Now that right there seems like being a bit too hasty to us. After all "no comment" could mean a whole different number of things.

To be fair to CVG, they did note that they'll keep on looking for a real update. They do, however, seem to stand by their speculation. You really can't blame CVG, especially since the release date keeps getting bounced around like a volley ball in DOAX2. Plus there's also the fact that we haven't really heard anything concrete about Oblivion for the PSP since its official confirmation along with the PS3 version.

We'll update you as soon as more official reports on the PSP version of Oblivion is made available.

» Why not keep the game intact and make it multi-umd.

Ubi must be having trouble ripping content to get the thing to fit on a UMD and keep loading times down.

by neo1607 - 2007-04-27 03:14
» Multi-umd

i would have assumed they wouldnt have ripped anything and used multi-umd's instead of ruining this brilliant game

» Hmm?

You didn't know..?

This is not the same game that's out there for PC or XB360..

The PSP version is a dungeon crawler....

» Oblivion = crap, but a nearly boundless amount of that

oh noes,

wont miss one of the most boring and empty games conceived. Its sad how ppl go berserk about meaningless randomly-generated scenery. I`d rather play a short, but well conceived game.

» um

you can tell this game is gonna suck ass

» Idea..

Instead of ripping it up and making a mediocre game, they should be inovative and keep the game somewhat intact by either make a multi-layered disk like mentioned or use the memory card to it's advantage to make it act as a hard drive like how Final Fantasy XI was used on the Playstation 2. Most people own over a gig stick here as it is, might as well capitalize on it. w/e

» What they need to do...

... is port TES: Arena or TES: Daggerfall to the PSP.

» again?

thanks Sony and its 3rd party devs for delaying a 6th game this year now....

» i'm afraid...

it's beceuse they know the psp can be krakked and they are going to have the game downloaded instead of bought. no one wants to release a game with custom software around

You haven't played Oblivion, have you? I think you'll find that Oblivion is extremely detailed and well conceived.
