NVIDIA eDRAM engineers to work on PSP2?

So, any takers?

At the moment, Nvidia has still got some job postings up on the web. And upon inspection, one would note that they are now looking for eDRAM engineers. Considering the fact that NVidia is confirmed to have the contract for Sony's PSP2, which is expected to make its appearance in 2009, plus the unlikeliness that anyone else in the industry is planning to use eDRAM any time soon, speculations are flying left and right if the people who will be filling the job vacancies will be the same team to work on the fabled PSP2.

With the current version of the PSP (which we know and love) already using plenty of eDRAM, the possibility may not be too far off. Well, unless Ken Kutaragi has got something to say about the matter. Again.

» i know i want to work for them

I think Dark_Alex needs to get the job... that would make the homebrew scene quite interesting

2009?

by Niklas - 2007-01-15 16:49
» uhhh

By appearance do they mean Sony will first show it off in 2009 or will it be released by then?

Love Nvidia though, get almost all my comp parts from them, they enhance sone of my favorite games like Age of Empires 3. Hope they'll give us more than 32 mb flash ram to work with in the PSP2 so we can actualy use some more "advanced" applications.

» 2010

I think 2009 is the year it will be shown off and it will come out in 2010. Sony did say some time ago that the PSP would last five years. so if that is true the PSP came out in 05 so in 10 we should see it.

by Niklas - 2007-01-15 17:06
» yeah but...

Yeah, but that's if it comes without delays and both the PSP AND the PS3 were delayed so its safe to assume we can knock on another year so it would be 2,011.

By that time I'll be a freshmen in College.

So many rumors...but this is kinda true right?... Well Hopefully the psp2 is going to look good and is harder to be broken and more shock proof.

» Clarify.

"Considering the fact that NVidia is confirmed to have the contract for Sony's PSP2, which is expected to make its appearance in 2009"

Please clarify that this is mere speculation on your part. You're really misleading everyone by stating it as you did. I think you better make an edit to this terribly written article.

Yeah your the first dip ***** to post on this article, congrats

» Ironically...

32 MB is the same amount of flash 360 has

by pavey - 2007-01-15 19:04
» dax

Why would dax have eDRAM engineering experience? just because he write programs for the psp that does not mean he could handle "Transistor level circuit design for graphics processors and other ASICs"

by blackmobb - 2007-01-15 19:33
» 360 only got 32mb flash?

Wow i have 64mb flash on my Original XBOX.....(modified it). So my xbox is faster than the 360? and it has a bigger hard drive, and better media center (XMBC) wowz...... +)

by pavey - 2007-01-15 20:51
» @blackmobb

flash doesnt determine the speed of you xbox, basically your xbox is still a p.o.s compared to the 360 lol

» old and tired

by 2010 there will be a Custom Firmware 12.6 SE and we will play ps2 games on our little psps and then psp2 will be a completely useless. go head and give me 1 star i don't care.

by . - 2007-01-15 21:14
» .

I would take my original xbox over the 360 any day.

BOW DOWN TO XBMC!

by hmm - 2007-01-15 21:35
» hmm

I dont think the psp has enough power to emulate ps2 games...

I think by 2011 well be playing ps2 emu's on psp2 or rather ps2p

» Jack Crap

QJ see a job for eDRAM engineering and think it's for the PSP2 what crap

NVIDIA are looking at getting eDRAM in to Digital Cameras, PDA's, Cell Phones, Portable Audio/Viedo, Notebooks, this Don't means Jack Crap

» NO HOMEBREW

there would be no homebrew at all for it SONY would not make the same mistake twice. every one would need mod chips

by Calum - 2007-01-16 02:48
» Your an idiot

Your a *****ing idiot, ofcourse sony will make mistakes, nothing is perfect, and in theory everything can be hacked, go home please

I have better suggestions for you: grow up, and get a dictionary.

by sausehuhn - 2007-01-16 06:55
» Actually...

...the PSP was released in (late) 2004. In Japan.

Considering that Japan will be the 1st country to get the PSP² (I don't believe Sony will ever manage a world-wide launch day), Sony's new portable will come in 2009.

But more likely to be available in the US and in Europe in 2010, I agree.

by Mr. D - What? - 2007-01-16 07:23
» Dark_alex

I think that if DAX would get that job, it wouldn't change the outcome of the homebrew-abilíty (Say it better if you can!XD.) of the PSP2. It would just change the outcome of the graphics.

Is this good news? I have no idea, so I'm asking. An answer that isn't completely pessimistic and overbearing would be appreciated.

by zster21 - 2007-01-16 11:04
» YES

this is awsome my dad actually might know something about this cuz he works for Nvidia's embedded design group. il ask him about it later!

by Dodo - 2007-01-16 11:12
» Sounds good

I really hope there will be a PSP2 but sooner. I don't want them to rush it and mess it up.

Though I doubt PSP2 will be as easy or readily crackable as PSP was with fw1.5. They are losing millions through piracy, as are developers. Sony will pay a lot of money to make sure it's near impossible to mod or run unsigned code.

by Understand!?¿ - 2007-01-16 14:06
» PSP2 isnt god it will be hacked

It will be hacked, honestly everything would have to be taken off like programs they have coming up for them like video cameras and cameras, honestly this is retarded i don't even care i am happy with my PSP

by lxAleXxl - 2007-01-16 14:55
» DAX = God

DAX has already made the PSP2 and the PSP3 because he is a god

by jmoneyh - 2007-01-16 16:24
» ahgh

a new psp would be great and all but i rather them do a really good firmware update instead. cuz i spent all this money on this psp and now psp 2 is comming out so i have to throw my old one away and get this new one. welll it atleast better use the same memory stick lol

» PSP2

I have a feeling they might make psp2 un-hackable

so we probz wont be able to hacks unless they make another mistake hehehe

by Onimushaclan - 2007-01-16 22:47
» nothing is unhackable imo

there's always a hole on every system it'll take time to find out where it is no matter how new the system is

by Danny - 2007-01-16 22:51
» psp2

Sony always makes mistakes because they are lazy on there products. When the hackers get in to the product they sony update it so they dont have to find the problem in the first place so it makes it an easier job
